I was all of nine years old when I handed my Dad’s pistol back to him without engaging the safety switch. I got an @$$ chewing that I would never forget . . . and rightly so. It was several months before he allowed me to handle another firearm.

as a side note, I watched the Vice News series about the Clinton Whitewater-Monical Lewinsky scandal.

It was generally pretty fair about discussing Clintons failures and crimes, although they did include a few perfunctory leftist caricatures of “far right” players, like Jerry Falwell. Monica admitted her stupidity in getting involved with Bill Clinton.

Otherwise, all the advertisements in between were for a clearly leftist market - HIV medicine being the most common.

We had a call to a house where a caller had told one of our 911 dispatchers that he was having severe chest pain and then hung up. The doors were locked, but we saw an open window on the second story. My crew put a ladder up and I entered the house and started coming down the stairs. There was a naked man sitting on a couch. I asked him if he was alright. He pulled a hand gun from under the cushion, pointed it at me and started pulling the trigger. It didn't go off. As he was messing around with it I quickly let myself out the front door.

I told my crew that we had a crazy guy with a gun. We “armed” ourselves with axes and took cover behind the fire engine. I called for police backup with my radio. About a minute later, the most incompetent lesbian super cop on the police department showed up. I knew her from recent incidents and it was a face palm moment when I saw who it was. About that time we saw the naked guy still holding his gun go out the back door of his house and enter through the side door of his garage. I thought maybe he was going to get into his car and try to get away.

Super cop still hadn't figured out what she should be doing when a police sergeant and half a dozen other cars showed up. We then heard naked armed crazy clown start up what sounded like a lawn mower in his garage. The sergeant asked me if that would kill him. I told him eventually, but it would take quite awhile. After a few minutes, he shut the mower down and we could hear coughing. The police sergeant used his cars PA speaker to tell him that he was surrounded and to come out with his hands up. The side door to the guys garage opened up and the naked guy came out with his hands up. We gave the police one of our yellow disposable blankets and they put him in the back of one of their cars.

The police went in and opened the two main garage doors to let it air out. When one of the officers removed the magazine from the pistol, he saw that the cartridges had been loaded into it backwards.

I don’t even allow my kids to point toys guns at people. Much less idiots like this pointing a real one at someone.

How many people have been shot by supposedly unloaded, unchambered, safety engaged, guns?

What a maroon!

” but it was not a case of “pointing a loaded weapon and pulling the trigger”.

What armydoc says.

Be careful what you comment without actually reading the article or watching the video.

Only two rules to avoid most “accidental” shootings.
They do not apply to justified INTENTIONAL shootings.

Rule number one:
NEVER point a gun at anyone.

Rule number two:
NEVER put your finger into the trigger guard or on the trigger.

ZERO tolerance for breaking either rule.

If either ONE is followed, everyone is safer.
If BOTH are followed, everyone is safe.

“The camera guy should have picked up the gun and done the same to the reporter and FILMED it.”
That would be tough to do since nobody has used film in decades. But he could possibly have digitally recorded it.

That reporter must have quite a rep now with the camera crews.

Cameraman: Drops camera, walks over to reporter, punches him in the nose.

Cameraman: “So sorry, I thought the smart chip would stop my fist, my bad”.

If I were that cameraman, that reporter would not have gone home safely that night.

"I think it is true, actually, that journalists are the stupidest people on Earth."

I disagree. Having gone to school, and known both, socially, elementary school teachers are the most stupid. However, journalists are such a close second as to be almost indistinguishable...

The subtle different is that teachers don't know they are stupid and don't brag about it. Journalists do not know they are stupid, and loudly and smugly claim expertise.

Obviously the gun was smarter than the a$$hole!
I would have had him arrested for attempted murder. Then sue him for all he’s worth.

It's still a case of "Pointing a weapon and pulling the trigger", though, that could be construed as a Freudian slip at the least. Speculation about weather it's loaded or not is meaningless, and anyone who would do such a thing cannot be trusted, especially in matters pertaining to personal safety.

I myself have ended a relationship with a certain relative, for life, over something not much different.

The loaded vs unloaded distinction is far from meaningless. The difference in the level of negligence and irresponsibility between the two scenarios should be obvious.
