Animal Lovers Shouldn’t Eat At Chick-fil-A

Christian Animal Ethics reports Chick-fil-A "chickens are bred to grow so large, so quickly, that many of them suffer crippling leg deformities. Because their breasts grow abnormally large while their skeletons and other organs lag behind, their legs often break under the weight of their own bodies."

Chickens at Chick-fil-A "factory farm suppliers don’t see the light of day or receive any exercise. Most have trouble breathing in the overcrowded, filthy conditions while many others suffer heart failure and chronic pain."

To keep Chick-fil-A "chickens eating and growing as much as possible, their sleep is restricted by keeping the interior lights of the warehouses illuminated at almost all times."

Many Chick-fil-A "chickens die on the warehouse floor, their bodies rotting among the other chickens, adding to the overall stress and unhygienic conditions."

.This last situation discourages me from eating at Chick-fil-A. Such conditions encourage diseases that chickens can transmit to humans like the urinary tract infection causing intestinal bacterium Enterococcus faecalis and salmonella.

Sounds like Chick-A-Fill’s latest payout to the gay community hasn’t bought them much peace from the attacks by the Left.

Frying in hot oil takes care of all that. Think I’ll have a chicken sandwich.

This describes 99.9% of all fast food restaurant chicken.

Chick-fil-a betrayed us. That is enough to write them off as partners in the culture war. We don’t have to be deceptive about other areas.

This is garbage, deceitful garbage at that. Sounds like another Soros backed "Christian" group...

Or else Fenton Communications.

"Christian Animal Ethics reports Chick-fil-A "chickens are bred to grow so large, so quickly, that many of them suffer crippling leg deformities

No, "Chick-fil-e" chickens aren't bred any differently from meat chickens used by any other company. The breed they use is likely the industry standard cornish/rock cross, bred to put its energy into growth rather than eggs. There are two main strains- a fast grower and a slower strain. Both are faster growers than dual-purpose birds preferred by smaller farmers who want eggs too, and both are more prone to leg problems IF mismanaged by someone unaware of their special needs, but being prone to leg issues under mismanagement is not the same as WILL have leg issues.

Chickens bred for high egg production like the leghorn are prone to a different issue- ovarian cancer. That's assuming they live long enough, which they don't, because they are slaughtered when egg production drops too much to justify the cost of their feed, typically around a year and a half of age, when they go through the first molt which saps their egg laying energy sometimes stopping them from laying in the process, until the feathers regrow. Now, an older chicken will lay bigger eggs but few of them, so a small farmer might let them live to 2 or 3 yrs if there's a good price to be had for jumbo eggs, or longer if there's a couple hens who are good sitters for hatching chicks, or if they are kept for other reasons such as using them as living rototillers. After that they start costing money.

I don't know which strain Chick Fil A suppliers use, and I bet whoever wrote this doesn't know, either, but obviously they only need meat so it only makes sense for them to raise a breed specifically suited for that. In the case of the fast strain, which is more sensitive, the birds are slaughtered at 6 to 8 weeks, while the slower breed is slaughtered at 10 to 14 weeks of age. In either case the birds don't have a long enough life to have "chronic" issues. ( A chicken can live to 16 yrs as a pet but the average lifespan as a pet is 6 or 7 yrs.)

Meat chickens don't have to be housed in small cages in fact it's a messy pain in the butt... the cages are, or were, used for egg layers, which is admittedly cruel, but Chick Fil A isn't using egg breeds, so save your ire for a breakfast joint. Meat birds are usually raised as a group in a large open space with no perches so they can't bruise the breast meat, and how crowded they are depends on the grower, but bear in mind that if it is cold, a crowded pen will be warmer and more comfortable, whereas in summer heat too crowded conditions can cause overheating and illness. Farmers are in business to make profits, not to lose stock and money to stupidity.

So, turning up your nose at Chick Fil A sandwiches won't save a single chicken nor end the meat industry's reliance on Cornish/Rock chickens. You're just going to eat a chicken raised the same way no matter where you go, while pretending you are more virtuous than those who still eat Chick Fil A.

Let’s look at this logically - a farm has a crop; if the crop is dying before harvest, the farmer makes less money for the effort they are putting into it.

You’re biting into a pack of lies written by people with an agenda - to get you to stop eating meat and conveniently, continue an attack against a chain which the left hates.

Oh, and a really good chance that the chicken supplier that Chick Fil A uses is the same that your grocery store uses, so if you do believe it, you’d best stop eating all forms of chicken from everywhere.

USDA closely inspects meat
production of any kind.
If these chicken farmers were
to produce chickens that were
unfit for human consumption
theyvwoulf shut the place
down until standards were met.
I worked at a poultry plant
and helped to process hundreds
of birds each day. USDA inspectors
were standing behind us thru
every process. Sure, taking
the life from any animal is
hard. This article plays to
the heartstrings of animal
lovers and PETA types.

Yeah, let’s worry about how the chickens Chick-fil-A uses are raised and ignore how it funds proabortion organizations such as The Pace Center for Girls and the YWCA. After all, it’s the chickens which matter.

Chick-fil-a is dead to me. Any company which withdraws its support for the Salvation Army because some limp wristed hysterical swishing rump rangers threw a hissy fit is dead to me.

I’ve seen videos of it, and it’s true.
I eat free range chicken and grass fed beef.
I think it’s more ethical, and healthier for myself.
Look at a free range chicken egg vs. factory eggs.
The yolk is solid and orange in color vs. drippy yellow.
To each his own...

I grew up in chicken raising country and chickens have been raised for food like that for 40 years that I know of. It’s nothing new and not exclusive to Chick-Fil-A. We never had chicken houses when we farmed for that reason. We raised animals for food but they were raised humanely.

Chick-Fil-A probably doesn’t have a clue how the chickens are raised just like any other chicken food businesses (like KFC, etc)
