I like Scots. Strong good people with a terrific history. . .they were so bada$$ that the Roman Empire built a wall to keep the Scots out. . .wow.

Yes, the Romans gave up trying to conquer Scotland. Hadrian's Wall is a short distance south of the current border between England and Scotland. For a short time they controlled southern Scotland up to the Antonine Wall but then pulled back to Hadrian's Wall.

But the Scotti were then in Ireland...did not cross over into Scotland until the late ancient period. I think the present-day Scots must be largely descended from the people who kept out the Romans, with an admixture of people from Ireland, some from England, and some Scandinavians (especially in the Orkney Islands, Shetlands, and Hebrides). The Stuart family is of Norman French ancestry.
