I spent the weekend searching for the meaning of malarkey.
One guy I talked to said he thought malarkey was something he ordered at a Greek restaurant. Another said it was Hungarian cabbage soup. A young millennial I interviewed said it was an exotic bird.
In my wanderings I talked to another young man who said he believed that malarkey was code for strong strain of Bolivian marijuana. His buddy said it was a county in Ireland.

Have you noticed that “malarkey” always comes in bunches? Occasionally it comes in loads, but most often it’s in a bunch. I’ve observed that malarkey never comes in clusters, batches, masses, swarms, chunks, oodles, or shebangs.
My favorite group of animals is a “squadron of pelicans.” It would be nice if malarkey came in “squadrons” instead of bunches. I’m hopeful that next time Biden will say “that’s a squadron of malarkey.”
Or a murder of crows. A murder of malarkey.
I like a “murder of crows” a lot, too. Maybe even more than a “squadron of pelicans.”
“A murder of malarkey” — has a nice ring to it! Especially so with anything remotely tied to the Clintons.
The problem is that malarkey are plural. You can have no malarkey, or a bunch of malarkey, but never a single malarkey, and that’s no malarkey.
Ouch, that hurts my eyes.
How about a flock of malarkey, like a flock of mallards?
Sounds a lot like deer. “Look! Look at that deer!” Are you looking at one or many deer? Oh deer.
