Dec. 2 (UPI) -- Heisman Trophy winner and former college football coach Pat Sullivan has died at 69 years old, following a long battle with cancer.
Sullivan died Sunday. He became Auburn's first Heisman Trophy winner in 1971.
The combination of Pat Sullivan and Terry Beasley was about as good as it gets. Terry would run flat out with his head pointed to the sky and watch the football come into his hands.
Never seen anyone else do that.
I think the fact that Shug Jordan was Catholic was part of the reason Sullivan signed with Auburn.
RIP, Pat. You gave us some exciting plays.
Beasley isn’t doing so well these days, and hasn’t for many years, all due to damage from football.
Too young, too soon.
I watched Beasley compete in the 50 yd. dash indoors at Montgomery. He didn’t win but there were two co-holders of the world record in the finals.
One of the guys pointed out Beasley’s wife. I mentioned that she didn’t have that great a figure. Another team mate said that was because she was pregnant.
Rest in peace Mr Sullivan.
Well that was a very sobering article on Pat Beasley.
When I was in high school I wanted to play football, but I wasn’t big enough and didn’t have the skill. I guess I was lucky. I’ve had some communication through a Facebook alumni group with some of the regulars on our high school team.
50 years later, I hear about back problems and knee replacement surgeries and realize even playing just high school football did damage.
Fittos. Rest in Peace Pat, your Tigers/Plainsmen beat my Bama this year.
RIP.
