As far as I know only LTC Kindman & family are to be protected, as he seems to be the SOLE military member.
(Absent an order from echelons far higher in the chain of command than I ever was, USACIDC does NOT protect NON-DOD personnel/family members.)
My GUESS (I’ve been retired for 13 years & have no “INSIDE” info & NO “need to know”.) is that at least one “flag” from HQDA believes that he is “in likely danger” from someone/some group.
