I have long identified that style of beard with left wing men.For years a very fellow at church that I know has had such a beard. He liked to engage in conversation after mass in the parish hall and he was invariably left on everything so that many just quit talking to him, Every conversation that went past "hello'" went straight into woke politics. Last year he started to let his beard grow out a bit, then a few months ago he began to shave his cheeks. His conversation changed and I heard him defend something Donald Trump said.

It is like baseball caps. Once many years ago, I saw a nice looking young man with his cap on backwards and felt like I wanted to tell him he just looked retarded but then heard him talking to another fellow and realized that guys who wear their baseball caps backwards are doing that as a sign that people who are capable of rational thought should not speak with them as they have nothing reasonable or useful to say.
