I guess I’m the only trucker here. A “power unit” is the TRACTOR which pulls the TRAILER down the road. It has an engine, while the trailer does not. Hence, “power unit”.

By purchasing their own tractors instead of relying on owner operators to provide them, Amazon is going to learn all about hiring drivers that destroy equipment, don’t give a f_ck about appointment times or efficiency, and no doubt will have nearly zero experience.

Yes, the same type of driver you see in Swift, England, and Werner trucks. Company drivers are either newly out of school or have no ambition. Owner operators are small business owners, and efficiency matters to us.

No doubt Amazon will try to lead the way in autonomous semi trucks, and that will wreak havoc on our highways.

...A slug is also a unit of force...

It is a unit of mass, not force.

One pound force will accelerate one slug mass at one foot/second^2.

If Amazon really wants to get serious, they’ll buy their own container ships to bring the junk in from China.

The “power unit” is what most of us call” the tractor”.

Nope, there isn’t capacity. Costs aside, there just isn’t enough capacity for Amazon’s growth trajectory.

But you’re more interested in just insulting them.

I live within 15 miles of an Amazon distribution center. My last package was routed from the distribution center near me, to someplace in South Bend, Indiana - 99 miles away. That trip took two days. It took another three for it to land on my porch, only to be returned because Amazon pissed me off. That was the sixth package in a row that was delivered well after the promised 2-day delivery for being a Prime member.

The one previous to that was supposed to be delivered same-day and that one took a week. Returned that one too.

I understand your situation is far different from mine, happy that you get your deliveries promptly.

All I know is since Amazon switched from using UPS and USPS for deliveries to "Amazon Logistics" they've f'ed up every delivery to me. Got to be too damn' annoying.

Amazon, you're fired!

You certainly were at your peak voltage today your most honorable Nullness. Ohm would be proud. E=IR...and may the Void resist your capacitance at all cost.

Commonly called tractor/trailer, power unit is the truck pulling the trailer.

I live in a small market, around 200,000 people in the surrounding area. In the last couple of years, none of the local suppliers could deliver anything I wanted within 3 months of Christmas (Best Buy, Costco, Walmart) but Amazon could deliver up to December 18th.

I wasted hours trying to buy “local” and could never get the gifts I wanted, so now I buy Amazon. Yeah, they’re liberal but so is every other retailer; I gain by buying from Amazon and unless there is a legitimate conservative outlet, I’ll never shop at any “local” store again.

I feel sorry for the drivers. Every second will be recorded.
Many years ago my car needed towing. I was in the tow truck and the driver told me he once stopped to look at some map for directions and he was soon called on the radio asking why he had stopped.

Amazon with be like this but on steroids.

#71 Prior to Amazon. I bought a Fujitsu laptop back in 2004. The UPS tracking showed it came from Japan then landed in Los Angeles near where I live (approx 40 miles away). It then proceeded to Atlanta, Georgia then back to Los Angeles then to my place..... I still have that laptop.

I think they mean the tractor that pulls the trailer...the unit with the CB Radio and steering wheel in it.

Every time they miss a delivery commitment, Amazon will give you a free month of Amazon Prime on request. They very rarely miss my deliveries.

I did not know this and it was never offered either. Each and every time, all they'd offer was a $5 credit to be used on Amazon. Told 'em to stuff it.

It's the truck part, which tows the trailer.

Quit lying.
There is more than enough capacity.
It was not an insult.
You obviously are ignoring the 1000s of stories of their incompetent supply chain problems ,massive payments of detention .
