You definitely should visit. In fact, I visited that big open square and the two churches beside it, and stopped for coffee in a museum café on the square’s edge. My father’s ancestors left the Netherlands for New Amsterdam so it was a treat to be in their country for the first time — plus it was fascinating to visit churches from the 1100’s and to walk atop medieval town walls. I’m used to the UK but this was on a completely different experience, what with the language difference.

Would love to! My father's ancestors left England twelve generations ago, landing with the Pilgrims after having migrated previously from Nordic countries. You couldn't tell it by looking at me, as my maternal great, great grandmother's Cherokee blood dominates my outward features - and probably lends to my craziness, at times.

But somewhere, way back, I bet we share a common DNA strand. ;-)
