That late-night kebab might be considered a guilty pleasure, but could it one day be seen as a crime against the planet? Will the time come when the only means of procuring a slab of Aberdeen Angus is from a dodgy dealer with a cool box? The barrister Michael Mansfield has suggested that we should have new laws against ecocide practices that destroy the planet and that under them, meat could be targeted. I think when we look at the damage eating meat is doing to the planet, it is not preposterous to think that one day it will become illegal, he said.
A study last year by researchers at the University of Oxford, published in the journal Nature, showed meat and dairy produces 60% of agricultures greenhouse gas emissions and takes up 83% of farmland, but delivers just 18% of calories and 37% of protein.
A vegan diet is probably the single biggest way to reduce your impact on planet Earth, not just greenhouse gases, but global acidification, eutrophication, land use and water use, said Joseph Poore, who led the research.

This has got to be the Stupid Age. How long is it going to last?
I’m sorry, I will never understand this non-logic.
Every time we kill a cow to eat it’s meat, there’s one less cow that’s farting and destroying the planet.
Do they expect us to just exterminate all cows and other animals we eat? Wipe them all out? Seems to me that to meet their goals, we need to kill off all mammals, including mankind in order to reach their goals of utopia.
Yes, ban all liberal meat sacks
***I don’t think chickens fart***
But their manure releases HUGE AMOUNTS of AMMONIA.
Stench, from worst to least...from my memory...
Hog. Absolute worst stench.
Chicken. Even worse when it is sour.
Cow
Horse
people.
After a while you can tell by the smell what is being spread on the fields, even ten miles away.
Farm boy here. At one time or another, we raised chickens, cattle, a few hogs, one cow-horse.
The chickens we raised thousands at a time. Put down bagasse on the floor (sugar cane stalk residue). Soaked it all up and stayed nicely dry. Let it compost for a year, shovel it out.....WONDERFUL for the garden.
We need to ban liberals to save mankind.
Not soon enough.
