They must be making paper towels, napkins, boxes and bathroom tissue. Newsprint is not in as high demand as 10 years ago.

I’m an artist. I buy paper, expensive paper. Paper making seems to be a pretty good business.

I used to be an active artist. Retail Advertising or illustrations of merchandise for ads. I used a lot of cold press illustration board, bristol board and some hot press with gesso textures applied. As you probably know, most retailers use photographs today, never line art.

My real joy was using plain old Newsprint paper for undraped figure drawing with charcoal pencil and sepia. Now, I haven’t found the right local class. Most adult classes are for amateurs, hence those classes have almost no instruction, but lots of loud music, trays of snack foods and mucho, mucho chatting.

I’m usually the only one who doesn’t like all the frills.
Maybe boutique and specialized paper has become lucrative for some retailers. Good for you to have found what you’re shopping for.

I retired last year from IP. Overall the company is good. Just be careful as you get older, close to retirement age...they will do things to encourage you to exit a little earlier than you planned. Happened to me and several of my friends. Read between the lines...lol

I actually lol-ed at that one!!! You forgot the liberal politics and superior deportment...but I guess it goes with the territory. Having said that, I attended a workshop last weekend with a brilliant young artist who hails from Texas and I believe is probably not liberal as he smiled and nodded in agreement with a statement that was made referring to the ease with which illegals are crossing at the southern border. So we are not all libs. Anyway, not so much into charcoal for figure drawing here. I’ve always preferred my conte crayon.
