This law protects women who choose to wear their hair any way they wish.
Nothing more, nothing less.
Why the false headline?

Why black girls have white girl hair anyway? I love giant Afros like those gals in movies in the 70s. I think it looks cool.

Some might say some hairstyles are unprofessional for a corporate office or courtroom meeting with clients.

According to the headline, it’s the hashtag #BlackWomensHair that Californians must like.
What’s the penalty if you don’t like the hashtag?

Black men go to work every day with their natural hair and they don’t have problems.
This law is going to open up lawsuits for businesses in california like never been seen.

Chastity Jones was locked in a nearly ten-year legal battle after she says an employer took back a job offer at an Alabama call center because Jones refused to cut her hair. She said, Are those dreadlocks in your hair? And I just looked at her, and I was like, These?' Jones said. And she said, Yes. I said, Yes, they are. She said, Um, well, we cant accept that here.' Okay, it IS a little strange that they said that. I mean, it's a call center. She'd be taking calls, not interacting with people face to face, right? How she looks shouldn't matter.

Yes but as Tommy said “how do we know that even happened”? We were not there. The first court threw it out. She may have just gave poor service over the phone and used that as an excuse.

To many folks, an adult wearing dreadlocks often means an adult who lit a fat spliff on their way to work, or an adult who does not shampoo all that often. It’s not a fair assumption, but the feeling is still out there. And to be honest, that is often how it looks, especially with the dreds that are very long and of different lengths. It just looks unkempt and untidy. Nothing to do with ‘race’.
The next worst style for work (IMO) would be to have a head full of pigtails, with the scalp showing. It looks tacky and unprofessional. It looks like someone ready for bed. No, we don’t just ‘have to like it’.
I predict someone who loses a job or gets sued over this will contest the law and win. Silly laws from silly people.
