What I find amusing is that members of academia despise Wikipedia - not because they do not share the same basic socio-political worldview (secular, hedonist, leftist), but because they are considered non-accredited competition.

Mutually-affirming Marxist academics - like a medieval guild - want a complete monopoly on telling others what is true or false. They spend virtually their whole professional careers avoiding the private sector, but they want complete control over the private sector - through indoctrination and legislation.

(No, I am not defending Wicked-pedia, as I call it.)
