Parents have been selling their children forever.
This is abhorrent in the west, but the world is a big place. There are lots of places where the price for feeding the rest of your family is the sale of one of your children.
It’s a horrible reality in our world.
I knew somebody working at an orphanage in Honduras. He said something about the child’s parents coming to visit him for the first time in two years.
“Wait - he has parents? Why is he in an orphanage!?”
“His folks can’t afford to feed him. But his two sisters still live at home.”
It would be bad enough to be an orphan. But to know that your sisters are still with your parents - but they didn’t want you!!??
But who knows - maybe the orphanage is a better place than home?
