Laura Ingraham wrote a book on this issue over a decade ago called “Shut Up and Sing”. I believe the book was a response to the Dixie Chicks going political. Artistic types (writers, actors, musicians, artists) are perpetually drawn to political pronouncements - probably driven by their insatiable narcissism. Joe Stalin referred to the Russian artists, writers and actors who supported him as useful idiots. Some things never change.
