President Trumps nomination of Washington, D.C., attorney Daniel Bress to the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco was confirmed by the Senate Tuesday on a party-line vote, giving Trump seven appointees to a court he has regularly denounced.
On the losing side of the 53-45 vote were Californias Democratic senators, Dianne Feinstein and Kamala Harris, who noted that the seat had been held by a Californian Alex Kozinski, who retired last December after allegations of sexual misconduct by at least 15 female staffers and would ordinarily be filled by a Californian. Bress, 40, was born in Hollister and grew up in Gilroy but has practiced law in Washington since 2008, mainly representing businesses.
Bress is not a part of Californias legal community, Feinstein and Harris said in a statement. Both members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, they criticized Republican leaders for discarding the blue slip tradition that committee chairmen from both parties had previously used to block confirmation hearings on judicial nominees if either home-state senator objected.

he will move to SF just not in the Feces District
One less clown on the Ninth Circus Court of Appeals, as nephew the lawyer calls it....
boo Hoo, he will shovel the feces back to your side nancy
It doesn’t matter that he’s not a Californian. California is an idea, not a place.
As a native Californian, and a Nevada refugee, what idea is that?
I don’t know. The Left keeps saying that America is not a place or a people, but it’s an idea. Maybe California is also an idea. The GOP should throw that back in their faces.
Perhaps the blue slip tradition would have continued had the Dems not blocked EVERY judge put up by a Republican.
BOO-HOO!
So adhere to “traditions” but the Constitution is a “living document”.
So Feinstein and Harris are for open borders, but a native born Californian isn’t a Californian. If thinking like that defines the “California legal community”, no wonder Trump had to look elsewhere for a candidate who wasn’t an Orwellian nutcase.
The ninth circus makes decisions for 9 western states. Why should more than 1/9th of them be from California?
California is now a cancer.
As a native Californian, and a Nevada refugee, what idea is that?
1976 Moscow comes to mind.
Trump got appointed to the 9th circuit???? ;-)
As a native I would say that California is less an idea than a bad dream. Actually, a nightmare would be a propos.

Graham eliminated the process whereby not returning a blue slip effectively VETOED the Presidents nominees for Court of Appeals Judges. GRAHAM SHOULD MAKE THE SAME MOVE FOR DISTRICT JUDGE NOMINEES.
Piss be on Feinswine and Willie Brown's suction machine.
So that’s 7 out of 29, if I understand correctly. So almost 25%.
He is from the most conservative law firm in the country...great pick.
Republicans have now appointed 13 of the 29 to the Ninth Circuit.
