This weekends box office wiped out two franchises, cemented the failure of two others, and mercy-killed one of those woke entries only pompous critics adore. Well start with Men in Black: International, which is doing even worse than those already-dire predictions of $30 million. Deadline reports this stinker will open to a pathetic $25 million, which is less than half of what all three of its predecessors opened to. Even the 22-year-old original launched with $51 million in 22-year-old dollars.
As I mentioned in my review, MIB4 has no swagger, no sex appeal, and no laughs; just a confusing story, bad special effects, and a bland leading man who is treated like an imbecile because hes white and hetero and we must now grovel before the woke.
But when I saw the trailer for this-third-movie-called-Shaft you gotta be kidding me. This is like turning the James Bond franchise into a musical, or Tootsie 2 into a psychological thriller, or Caddyshack 3 into a monster movie
What in the world was Warner Bros. thinking?
A franchise about a bad mother-shut-your-mouth is now The Aging Bickersons.
John Shaft, the John Shaft (The Mighty Richard Roundtree), the original bad mother-shut-your-mouth is now Bad Grandpa?
Theres a fan base for this brand. Back in 2000, Shaft opened to $22 million and I would have happily stood in line to watch Roundtree take his iconic character into 2019, but that trailer was flat-out depressing.
Shame on everyone.

Will Smith is a damn good actor. Though he's got some pretty screwed up kids. I liked him in the Men in Black movies. Especially MiB3 where he goes back in time to NYC in 1969, particularly the scene at Shea Stadium, brought back some fond childhood memories, good times! A dead White guy, Sam Goldwyn, though the quote is sometimes attributed to playwright Moss Hart, once said "if you want to send a message use western union"
If Hollywood wants to make movies about strong, capable black people, I have no problem with that. Why should I? The world has plenty of strong, capable black people.
If someone wants to make a movie directly showing White people being constantly superior to Black people, that bothers me. It's racist. It's hateful. We shouldn't do that.
Of course, Hollywood does not make such movies. Instead, they make movies directly showing Black people being constantly superior to White people. "Black Panther" was a good example of this.
Why do that? Why?
To me, Captain Marvel was a caped crusader with a lightning bolt on his chest and a cry of Shazaam!!!
Die, Hollywood, Die!
I’m so out of touch that I did not know there was an MIB III.
Sequels, prequels.......what you do when you’re out of ideas.
Get woke, go broke.
Make movies people want to see, and not be made fun of, not be preached at, not be insulted and not be afraid for the kids to see...............
And I don't think that most people want to be treated that way either, especially by self-important "entertainers".
I really shouldn't care that much I guess. My life goes on regardless......
Because they're in to navel gazing, delusion and fantasy.
They had to take Fast and out of the movie sequel titles after their god the Frauds illegal gun-running operation against America.
To me, Captain Marvel was crippled young boy, and with the cry of “Shazaam” became a caped crusader with a lightning bolt on his chest.
Captain Marvel was a male not a female. Once again Hollywood ruins another iconic character showing its utter lack of creativity.
I’ve read and have talked to “marketing people” that I happen to casually know. (Note Not claiming this is in anyway a scientific or definitive study!) They say that according to the viewing demographics they see the movie going audience is much more heavily non-white then ever before. Then throw in the fact that they want to export these films and make money overseas. Big markets there are Asia, Africa & Middle East. Beating up on white Europeans/Americans sells! Of course Hollyweird’s already mentally & emotionally predisposed to do that so its easy for them. Why do we see it also on the cable networks, because is pretty much the same people doing the films etc. and they want it to sell in the overseas markets also.
In actuality they are all horrible copy cats & conformists artistically, intellectually & politically. Remember the film the “Man in the Grey Flannel Suit”, a critique of Wall Street, corporate & American Middle Class conformity. How all that is so bad so stifling so horrible and they “Hollyweird” will save us from it.
To them the artist was the only true nonconformist which they of course define themselves to be. That’s BS & sometimes I think they secretly know it! Ayn Rand called out these clowns and their conformity in several of her novels!
We don’t need them, they need us! And I think they secretly know that too and it scares them!
Believe it or not there’s going to be a Fast and Furious 9
I haven’t been to a movie theater in over 15 years. I see no reason to ever set foot in one again. Nor do I watch any of this crap on DVD or pay TV. I wouldn’t watch it for free.
“I really shouldn’t care that much I guess.”
actually, i don’t ... haven’t been to a movie theater in ovr a decade and don’t plan to ever go again ... the REAL entertainment long ago moved to streaming, cable channels, and premium channels ...
Capitan Marvel had an identity change do to a copyright fight in the past. Shazam is the character you remember. The recent movie of that name was quite good.
