I understand all of the posters’ irritation but I also look at our young people being saddled with such monstrous debts, and the poor value they have received for it. This is not the way it used to be, and we need to return to what was the way in the past.
One of the many reasons I despise Hillary Clinton is because she spoke for education reform and the horrible debt being put on our young people. And in all her wrongheadedness, she was right about this one thing. She could now be the champion for this, she could be at the forefront calling for reform and really taking a leadership position in changing this, and have a real victory. But instead all she does is whine about her well-deserved loss.
but I also look at our young people being saddled with such monstrous debts
Theres plenty of irresponsible behavior to go around. But in the end Simon signed on the line which is dotted. Anyone accruing $230,000 in debt without the slightest idea of how theyre going to pay it back in a timely fashion deserves what happens to them.
But as usual the root of the problem is Government involvement in what should be a private sector enterprise.
Lurkers Maxim #2: Almost without exception Government ***** up every single thing it touches.

You realize that no one held a gun to this person's head, and forced him to take a loan.
He made an agreement, and his word should be his bond. In today's society, apparently it is not.
I understand, and agree, with your point that College costs are out of control (fed by these Fed guaranteed loans) - but a person needs to be responsible for their actions. Don't sign up for a loan that you can't afford.
Anybody with half a brain would know that a degree in "Social Journalism" was not going to cover $250k in student loan debt.

No doubt with a gun pointed at them? Be serious!
