Joe Biden, the relative moderate, is subject to these forces. He dumped his longtime support for the Hyde Amendment prohibiting federal funding of abortion last week and released a climate plan that, even if more modest than the Green New Deal (a low bar), is clearly derived from it.
Climate is a watchword among the Democratic presidential candidates and an enormous downside risk. Once everyone on your own side agrees about an issue, and once you are convinced that you are addressing a planet-threatening crisis that will become irreversible in about a decades time, prudence and incrementalism begin to look dispensable.
Theres no doubt that climate is a top-tier issue for Democrats. In a CNN poll, 96 percent of Democrats say its very important that candidates support taking aggressive action to slow the effects of climate change. Its doubtful that mom, baseball and apple pie would poll any higher.
Its also true that the public is adopting climate orthodoxy. According to a survey by climate change programs at Yale and George Mason, 70 percent believe that climate change is happening, and 57 percent believe that humans are causing it.

Pfffft. AOC stole more than that from the tip jar every night.
The problem with embracing climate ideology is that it only sells to Democrats, not the wider electorate. Thus, it becomes a bar by which candidates are measured. The more extreme they are on climate, and abortion, and taxation they are, the more likely they are to become THE candidate. But none of those things sell well to Republicans or moderates and Democrats can’t win without votes from moderates.
I thought this article was well balanced and covered all the angles. How refreshing.
Why does the time remaining go up every week?
“that, even if more modest than the Green New Deal (a low bar), “
Even more modest, so this idiot thinks a plan that bans air flight and cows is modest. I swear if these lunatics win in 20 it will be time to take up arms
A Trap indeed
Brings us to the middle of another 11year Sunspot cycle
If the Sun stays dormant without making Sunspots..expect a very cold outcome.
If it were a trap, please explain the past 4 decades of failed climate calamity predictions. 10-12 years seems to be the sweet spot for these con jobs - long enough for people to not pay attention and short enough to give their con a bit of urgency.
The easy answer would be that you are now in 'bizarro world'. But no, I posted without doing the math as the coffee began to take effect. The official number should be 11.57 years which means you have .16 of a year less to exist. My bad.
