My belief is that the RCP is funded by the ChiComs. They have always extolled Mao. They have denigrated ChiCom leaders since Mao, though. So if they are paying it's probably a Chinese Deep State thing. (Like the CIA probably supports groups overseas for historical reasons that we and even the Congress have no idea about.

We do know that their rivals, the CP-USA, despite all their denials, was taking direction from the Kremlin throughout the Cold War.

This isn't speculation anymore, on the CP-USA. The brief access to KGB files in the Yeltsin era let a lot of these things be proved.

Even Wikipedia admits it now:

Back in their beginnings, they were (& still are) funded by rich donors, many in Hollywood.
Within their organization’s division of labor, certain members were full time fundraisers whose job it was to hound the donors for money.
Also, they had (still have) their bookstores & full time paper sellers who hawk their publications, t-shirts, etc. on the streets.

But that’a run like a multi-level marketing scam.

The street paper sellers had to buy the inventory at retail, & then try to recoup their costs on the streets.

These fundraising mechanisms are labor-intensive & tedious, and seem to have receded into the background.

Their current, much higher level of funding, which has brought them into mainstream prominence, comes from a combo of donations and Your Tax Dollars.

They’re now into the “nonprofit” front-group scam. Dozens of 501(3) c (or whatever) “community” organizations & “charities” with differing names & overlapping staff.

Soros doles out money to them, as well as many other people & groups. Some may be unaware who they’re donating to.

Bogus mission statements —helping the poor, empowering the victim of blah blah, can garner matching tax funding.

Holder & Lynch fined the banks billions for the mortgage meltdown, & funneled billions to these SJW “nonprofits.”

Several of the revcom front groups got big bucks this way. Jeff Sessions tried to recover some of it.
