What is important is that the Maine GOP field a primary challenger to Collins. While it would be good for them to be a serious conservative, it is unlikely that they could win. However this candidate could be sold to Collins as “insurance”. That is, if the Democrats manage to come up with some rotten way of blocking her, including violence, to the point where she had to drop out, this other candidate would be someone they would hate even more.

Some types of algae produce a toxin that contaminates the manatees’ wetland and estuary habitat and sticks to the seagrass they eat, making manatees sick or even killing them. Unusually cold water in the winter can also kill many manatees.
