Enhanced Interrogation....Dr. James Mitchell...good book
Enhanced Interrogation written by Dr. James Mitchell | 2016 | James Mitchell

Posted on 04/29/2019 8:16:20 AM PDT by srmanuel

I've seen this guy on Fox News from time to time, recently I watched a podcast of a long interview with Dr. James Mitchell...

Dr. Mitchell was one of two people who helped the CIA develop the Enhanced Interrogation Program (EIT) used on high value terrorists after 9/11 people like khalid sheikh mohammed, abu zubaydah and others....Dr. Mitchell personally waterboarded both terrorists

The book will make you shake your head about the political in fighting, backstabbing, and spineless bureaucrats detailed in the book...especially Senator Diane Feinstein...

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed told Dr. Mitchell that large scale attacks on the USA were not necessary to defeat us...the key tool to defeat the USA was from within by using immigration of Muslims to this country who would use the social welfare system to support themselves while gaining local power and push for the implementation of Sharia law....small scale "lone wolf" attacks would become an epidemic and eventually the will of the people will be broken and eventually give up...at which time Sharia will dominate...

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed went on to say that Muslims would use the Constitution as a tool against the American people....

If you read the book, which I just did, you can't help but think that Ilhan Omar is using this playbook with her actions....

“eventually the will of the people will be broken and eventually give up...at which time Sharia will dominate...”

A fundamental misunderstanding of America right there.

Dr. Mitchell is a patriot and a hero.

The left are extremely wrong about it. How can a former frat party hazing joke turn into torture?

Simple. It works and these inhumane terrorists sung their hearts out.The Muslim supporting, Jew hating leftist prigs did not like it one bit.

Kudos to Dr. Mitchell. He saved thousands of American lives.

So how many people have died as a result of waterboarding at the hands of the US government?

Zippo, Zero, nada.

So what is the problem?

One of the interesting details in the book is how waterboarding was effective on some the terrorists, but other lesser techniques were used effectively to get the terrorists to talk...

I support the waterboarding of terrorists, and many much crueler tortures.

But to call waterboarding a frat house hazing prank is demonstrable of abject ignorance.

When done right it’s as effective as anything anyone has ever come up with. And it meet the criteria under US law as torture.

Can’t have an honest discussion with someone who is not honest. [Can’t speak for Mariner and his limited comments - so the following is not aimed at him - but general remarks...]. Top lawyers reviewed the EIT processes and approved them - which means there can be honest discussions and different opinions...without resorting to insisting that those doing EIT are committing ‘war crimes’...which is patently absurd!

Enhanced Interrogation Techniques (EIT) were approved and vetted at the highest levels....and would do no physical damage to the person interrogated. Liars like John McCain said lots of lies about EIT...compared it to his treatment at the Hanoi Hilton - and yet had his treatment at the Hanoi Hilton been done per approved EIT ...he would not have suffered the debilitating damage to his body that he did suffer. Japanese in WWII did a deadly form of ‘waterboarding’ - but to compare the 2 is like comparing a WWI biplane with a modern jet. Both are planes...but beyond that - the differences are more than the similarities.

Fact is - aviators and air crew go through SERE school and are subject to a variety of EITs - including water-boarding. I hardly think that SERE school instructors perform REAL torture....but they do train the students what they might see...but only to a point...that they DO NOT CROSS!!

NOW - if you listen to leftists - keeping a captured terrorist in other than ‘humane POW conditions’ is considered ‘torture’. Keeping them up with obnoxious music -torture. Round the clock interrogations without sleep (and a proper bed -with the turned down cover, fluffed pillow with a mint) - more torture.

But terrorists violate all Geneva convention rules and do not deserve anything but a summary judgement and immediate execution - PER the Geneva Convention. Keeping them around and using EIT to get info - perfectly legal....and it is NOT ‘torture.’

There’s a couple of dozen, at least, which came away with PTSD. That meets the legal definition.

And considering that only 1 or 2 per class were actually waterboarded, 3 classes per year, that’s a fairly high percentage.

And, like you mention above it was under highly controlled circumstances.

JUST LIKE EIT.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not opposed to waterboarding terrorists to death. I would do so myself.

But it does meet the legal standard for torture, specifically “permanent damage”.

Rational people can argue over waterboarding...but as done by the US on terrorists - it really DOESN’T fit the definition of torture - unless you ‘torture the definition’ of torture.

Yes - almost anything can be claimed to give one PTSD - including going to SERE school. (My son completed SERE last spring...and he had his ‘stresses’ getting through.) Heck - we had an Army Major who claimed Pre Traumatic Stress Disorder as a justification for shooting up lots of military....doesn’t mean it is real for any circumstance claimed. It can be convenient for someone as an excuse....

I would NOT waterboard any terrorist to death...just long enough to see if valuable intel could be obtained...(which is was from the 3 high value detainees - the only ones waterboarded.) However - plenty of these terrorists should have had military trials and been executed LONG AGO. (But - leftists totally oppose that.)

“Yes - almost anything can be claimed to give one PTSD”

True.

But most claims do not pass a VA exam. They look not only at claimed impact, but real impact to the life of the vet. Relationship stability, substance abuse, job stability and many other factors. And, at the “trauma” incident.

Things that must be real, not just claimed.

Oh, and there’s no more waterboarding in SERE with the possible exception of Warner Springs.

I hear the Navy held out on that one.
