It’s not every day that something truly shocking happens in baseball. There are thousands of games each year, each pitch photographed and videotaped and tracked on radar to the millimeter and microsecond, so there is really very little new under the sun. But what’s happened to the Yankees over the first three weeks of the season is truly shocking. This past weekend, right fielder Aaron Judge went on the IL with a strained oblique muscle—and I know this isn’t the point, but when a guy as big as Judge pulls a muscle, it has to register on the Richter scale—which gives the Yankees the following injury list, according to Baseball-Reference.

The Yankees should have won in the past 25+years: 1993, 1994, 1995, 1997, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018.
Those Boston Red Sox have won a ton of World Championships since 2000. So strange as when I was growing up, it was thought that they would never win one again. They came close in 1975. I remember seeing those Oldsmobile commercials during the game.
With all those injuries and the mediocre record, I guess God is not Blessing the Yankees.

Should have won, but didn’t get there.
If teams kept track of games they should have won, and championships they would have won expect for this or that event, every team would have won many many more games than the official team standings show.
It looks funny to see references to the IL, injured list, as opposed to the DL, disabled list. Baseball changed the name of the disabled list to the injured list , to be politically correct.

I hated the Yankees before they tossed Kate Smith now I really hate them.
They have their hands full with climate change and Kate Smith. They can’t be expected to keep up with baseball amid all that virtue signaling.

Yes. It’s the DL.
And it’s World Champions, not World Series Champions.
I certainly wish them no harm, but I’m visiting from CA in July and will be attending a game. Since ticket costs fluctuate with the team’s fortunes I’ll cash in

The Steinbrenner family are the worst owners in Baseball . Old George was supposed to be banned from Baseball for life but they let him back in.
