Seems like outside of Texas or the south, every single time some restaurant touts their fried chicken, it’s always done wrong somehow.
I only go to restaurants with a sign in the window that says “Worlds Best ______”.
There is no such thing as great fried chicken outside the south...
Its not that hard, but Yankees and west coasters always think they can do something better... and they cant.
After the franchise joints changed their frying grease they all suck everywhere. Yucch!
Yep!
BABE'S, for example, started in Roanoake, TX. and has since fanned out, packed and successful everywhere. I bet Babe's would work anywhere in the US.
They get the chicken crust right and the sides right (meaning they have that traditional, somewhat underwhelming country cafe taste instead of gourmet perversions that don't taste "right"). Biscuits are served with butter and honey and molasses! All family style.
Next door to Babe's in Roanoke is Oak Street Pie Co. Worth popping in to.
