The left seeks to criminalize shame, one of a society's most powerful weapons for changing behavior. It is not shameful any more to be an unwed mother. There's no shame in being on welfare. There's no shame in being a pud-smoker or a dyke. There's no shame in adultery or promiscuity or venereal disease or insanity or obesity or any other condition that threatens the overall health of a culture. Given the Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's of the liberal wing, there's apparently no shame in ignorance, even when it's trumpeted from ivory towers.
Such behavior proliferates because there are no consequences to it any longer. We don't need the government to implement LEGAL standards if we're free to impose our own MORAL standards. But the left would deny us even those.
Bring back shame.
There is still shame, but the standards for shaming have been turned completely upside down. Now you’re shamed if you can’t see that the clearly odd individual in pantyhose and bra, with a five o’clock shadow, on the other side of the counter serving up your coffee, is a “woman”.
