As ironic as it may be, Chicagoans are freer than New Yorkers.

Which really isn't saying much.

I disagree. Chicagoans are able to purchase handguns, and are able to obtain concealed carry permits on a "shall issue" basis.

Californians can only buy an ever-shrinking pool of handguns that are still on the "approved" roster, and can only obtain concealed carry permits on a "may issue" basis, which in some counties is treated as "no issue," while in other counties is treated as "shall issue," depending on the whim of the local law enforcement official.

It is extremely expensive and practically impossible to obtain a permit to keep a pistol in one's home in New York City, and if such a permit is issued, the owner cannot transport the handgun outside of the five boroughs. And as to obtaining a concealed carry permit, it is nearly impossible unless you are well connected. (both President Trump and Donald Trump Jr. have NYC concealed carry permits, which shows you how connected you need to be.)

After McDonald and Moore v. Madigan, Chicagoans have it pretty good as far as the Second Amendment goes. They are without a doubt far and away the most free of the large, liberal-run cities such as Los Angeles, New York, Newark, or Washington, D.C.

And Chicagoans are much better off than residents of Hawaii, California, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Connecticut, Massachusetts, etc., when it comes to the
