It was a political prosecution, and as such, anything associated with it should have been voided.

I think he pled because he was out of money. The shame is not in him protecting his family, IMO, it was the prosecution of him in the first place.

Mike Flynn is a really intelligent guy and in a lot of ways he is a hero of mine, particularly for the risks he was willing to take and the enemies he was willing to make in his final positions in service, but he did do wrong after he left military service getting into the lobbying business for Turkey of all things. I don’t think he deserves to be ruined, but I do think he should be done with public service.

If more people in government, both military and civilian, had to leave forever after their thirty years to reach retirement were up, the world would be a better place.

I don’t disagree about how shameful it was and yes, it was certainly political and it should be voided. My question is what happens to his son? If they even made such a threat (we do not know this for sure) all of it should not only be voided, but people should be disbarred or prosecuted themselves for such behavior.

IMO, If his son did something wrong, they should go after his son.

People should be prosecuted for this entire sham. It is going to be interesting to see now that the pendulum on this is swinging back the other way...

I hope!

Wasn’t there threats of prosecution of a family member if he didn’t plead guilty?

Flynn is a moron at best and a crooked bastard at worst. When he placed that call from a foreign country he surrendered all the legal privacy protection he had as a U.S. citizen. That’s why it wasn’t illegal for the Obama orcs to unmask him.

I don’t doubt that Mueller made every single threat he could. The stakes were high.

He should be treated as any other citizen who admitted lying to the FBI.

And which citizens might that be? It is apparently not a crime to lie to the FBI if you are a high-ranking Democrat.

It is apparently not a crime for FBI agents to revise their 302 forms (interview records with suspects) long after the fact.

Nobody in their right mind would ever speak to an FBI agent under any circumstances if they truly understood the risks. Guilt or innocence is irrelevant if they want something from you. Besides "everybody commits three felonies a day".

Perhaps "lying to the FBI" should be reclassified as a misdemeanor crime, subject to a maximum $100 fine and 8 hours of "community service".

He's a turkish boy toy. He was working for them at the same time he was running around supporting trump. He should have worn a nascar themed jacket acknowledging the various groups he got money from. Just like all lobbyist groups should. VP Pence didn't appreciate the fact that he lied to him as well.

He can go to jail like Martha Stewart. I don't welcome the other guys did it bs and they got away with it.

Pardon him tomorrow morning along with Roger Stone. Once we figure out how to marginalize the Southern District, we can then pardon Manafort.

Pardon maybe. Another job requiring trust, no way.

One is either a liar or not a liar, now and forever more. The odds of a liar reforming are much, much less than a whore, drug addict, sex deviant or most any other human deficiency reforming.

Forgive maybe, but don't ever trust a liar again.

General Flynn needs to have his plea bargain withdrawn, be declared innocent and be reimbursed for all his legal fees, plus compensation for violations of his civil rights based on a malicious prosecution.

That is a perfectly good reason to exclude Flynn from any position in a Trump administration. And lying about such things is a perfectly good reason to fire someone.

It is not a good reason to jail someone.

The problem is that we have a two-tier "Justice System" in which Democrats have been routinely exempted from laws and rules as Republicans are mercilessly held to them. And we have far too many "process crimes" on the books that are selectively enforced against opponents of the regime in power at the time.

Flynn should walk free because the Podesta brothers were allowed to walk free. Or perhaps we really should have one law for everybody. A large number of Democrats (and quite a few Republicans) would soon be asset-stripped and in jail if that standard held. I am agreeable to that.

On a side note, I believe that Martha Steward should have been acquitted.

We've always had two America's. One groups gets away, the other is outraged. So what. These quibbles are political. They all suck. Flynn broke the law. Prosecute him.

'Flynn should walk free because the Podesta brothers were allowed to walk free. '

That crap worked in kindergarten. Flynn is a grown ass man. Getting out of trouble because one group didn't get prosecuted would only help to prove how messed up our system is.

Getting out of trouble because one group didn't get prosecuted would only help to prove how messed up our system is.

That does not need any further proof. Our system is seriously messed up. It is not going to get any better by punishing Trump supporters while letting Obama and Clinton supporters go unmolested. The Flynn prosecution was all about harming a Trump supporter under pretense-of-law since the bureaucrats could not directly harm President Trump.

Process crimes, such as "lying to the FBI" are complete BS and should not even be on the books, let alone prosecuted. Such actions are always used selectively against persons who have offended the powers-that-be.

Flynn broke the law. Prosecute him.

Not unless and until we prosecute various Obama and Clinton supporters with equal ferocity. There are a number of FBI and CIA officials, both current and former, who should be facing trials for outright sedition. After that occurs, we might consider what punishment is appropriate to deal out to Flynn for "lying to the FBI".

I am still in favor of "$100 fine and 8 hours of community service".
