many of your comments seem to suggest youre addicted. not good. Maybe this is time to fine other ways to cope instead of your addiction to that particular station or DJ?
See my post #19. Sounds like we had similar experiences.
Awesome song! I have that CD in my car — “Give The People What They Want”.
Well, for one, he's a great DJ who plays exactly the same bands and songs I like and his format keeps my mind busy or away from my ongoing health issues, my husband's health issues and my son's special education issues, so, yes, consider me "addicted", then!
Sorry man, but times are changing. Nobody listens to music on the radio any more. They use Pandora, Spotify, Apple Music, whatever streaming platform of your choice.
They still listen to talk radio because us old guys are slow to figure out podcasts but once we do, those'll be gone as well and then who knows what they'll play on the radio. Probably just commercials.
“I’m probably the only person in America who still faithfully listens to Classic Rock on terrestrial radio...”
Not really. Just here where I live, there are about six stations that play all the old music, not counting the country music stations.
That’s awesome. Here in the DC-VA-MD area we only have one (BIG 100) and I think one out of Baltimore that we don’t hear well here in Southern Maryland.
Yeah. Funny you classify it as AOR. When I first discovered it, it was true “underground,” an almost clandestine station just playing music - no news, no traffic, no commercials, no DJs chattering away, no “personalities” with their inane banter. Just music.
And hard to find music, too. I got introduced to Janis Joplin, Taj Mahal, Chicago Transit Authority, Quicksilver Messenger Service, and many other obscure groups I’ve forgotten long before they ever hit a Top 40 AM station.
I feel your pain, but know enough about radio to tell you it won’t work. Gone is gone because Program Directors can never admit they made a mistake. True story.
Maybe you can find where the DJ has moved to (IF he has a new gig anywhere) and listen on the web. Or find an alternative way to listen to the greats.
Personally, I have a YOUtube list of over 500 tunes that I “liked” and listen to when the mood hits. Otherwise I listen to Rush, Sean, Berry, Levin, Batchelor, and Noory on my RADIO.
I love local radio.
It’s been a long time since I lived in DC. I left in 1991. My favorite was DC101.1 FM and the Greaseman. I was even on his show.
Whatever happened to Doug Tracht?
They still a lot of those forgotten classics. Every time I listen to the Klassics show, there is at least one song that I love but havent heard in years. By AOR, I meant album oriented rock, since they never played singles.
Oh, I always knew AOR to be “Adult Oriented Rock.” Big diff!
I listen to classic rock on the radio even at home. It’s on most of the day unless something good is on.
I can barely tolerate Noory these days. He comes off so fake and bored. I only listen if it’s one of the other hosts or Linda Moulton Howe on.
My husband is Program Director and Afternoon Drive Jock on this station: http://www.wlav.com/
From Wikipedia:
Since 2010, The Greaseman is currently heard on the internet radio station Web Radio Classics (manned by former WRC jocks) from 6 p.m. until midnight Eastern time, with The Greaseman’s Ring Dang Doo running from 6 to 10 p.m. and The Greaseman running from 10 p.m. until midnight ET.[19]
I love Linda! She’s great!
Thanks AFSister!
