Trump's Wall Would Replace Statue Of Liberty As The Symbol Of America

Works for me.

Yeh, The World’s Last, Best Place, now with a perimeter...

No kidding - what’s wrong with that?!

Lady Liberty says freedom and justice for all. The Trump Wall says two things - abide by the laws of our land and we will protect our citizens.

What’s the down side?

Works for me too. I’d be happy if we were a country that didn’t let anyone in except by invitation.

The wall would stand as a guide to steer the sincere applicants to enter the United States to the designated points of entry, nothing more. The wall would still have appropriate openings along its length.

Venezuelans have even offered to paint the wall, with appropriate murals if that would please the Mexicans, and directions for how to proceed to the next point of entry.

This poem, unfortunately, has been taken too literally, especially the last few lines.

The New Colossus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame, With conquering limbs astride from land to land; Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame. "Keep ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
