Listen, if you’re Nancy Pelosi it makes a lot of sense. Nancy Pelosi is terrified, number one, of her extreme left-wing base; she is captive of that; and number two, the position of Congressional Democrats in this shutdown is objectively unreasonable. In 2013, Chuck Schumer and every Senate Democrat voted in favor of 350 miles of border wall. They have right now shut the government down to stop 234 miles of border wall. I don’t know how you explain that you voted in favor of 350 miles but you shut the government down to stop 234 miles. That is incoherent.
The honest answer: It’s not a substantive disagreement; it’s that they’re terrified of their extreme left wing, who hates Trump. And that’s why we’re having a shutdown. So why does Nancy Pelosi not want the State of the Union? Because the State of the Union is an enormous platform for the president to speak directly to the American people, and she doesn’t want people focusing on the substance of this issue. She wants their information to come from the mainstream media rather than the president.
Listen, it’s the same reason, You remember, back right before the shutdown, when the president met with Pelosi and Schumer in the Oval Office and it was a remarkable meeting. I thought the funniest and most revealing moment was when Pelosi said multiple times, “Please, can we turn the cameras off? Can we get the reporters out of here” She didn’t want people to see that their position was objectively unreasonable. The president said he’s willing to compromise; he’s willing to negotiate but we need to secure the border. The president’s right. Their position is not defensible she’s trying to hide from the cameras and I don’t think we should let her.

I heard one talkshow host recommend holding it at Jerry’s World (AT&T Stadium, Arlington, TX). Have background slides and video clips of the Dems’ flip-flops on border security/the wall. And of course, have it broadcast.

I wonder what amount of money would be raised if President Trump hosted a live ‘Build the Wall’ telethon? They could have 95% of the money go towards construction and the remaining 5% go to assist victims of illegal alien violence?

I like Cruz in the senate. He is better there. I don’t think he would be a good president.
He was my first choice going into the presidential election, but he lost me when Trump joined in and he was not smart enough to realize he should have accepted Trumps offer to be VP.

Just like the GoFundMe, or the idea of selling wall bonds; it would require Congressional authorization, to actually spend the money building wall - the same number of votes required to just put the money into the budget directly.
Congress must be made to authorize spending on the wall. If they would, there are lots of ways to find the money; asset forfeiture from drug cartels, fees on wiring money, fines on illegal immigrants, savings elsewhere in the Federal budget, public donations, etc.
You know when media folks were being video bombed by folks walking by saying...”grab her by the p-—y”? I wish we could start a variation where when a reporter is on the street doing a live report, conservatives can walk by saying...”Grab Pelosi by the Border”!

It also speaks of something else, how some folks will hold so strongly to a delusional notion of Utopian Heaven that they will literally kill to bring that delusional Utopia into being, in resistance to reality inexorably closing in on them. The violent ones wish to seize control of truth and heaven and to twist these to their own Utopian ends.

Well, that's one way to look at it, and you're probably right. But it's still an opinion. The Founders were vague enough in their definition to allow for several interpretations. Otherwise, military personnel stationed long-term overseas would not have president-eligible children. I don't think that even the Founders envisioned that possibility.
