Non-stop gratuitous attacks take the emphasis away from substantive policy disagreements you’d like people to listen to. If the public hears a constant stream of attacks and they don’t seem worthwhile or important, they will tune us out. There is plenty to criticize that is important. Remember how going after Clinton for a blow job ruined the conservatives for years? It wasn’t worth the damage it caused. That’s the case here too.
