Plenty of people are hounded by their demons (real, imagined, or created for dramatic license).
And it probably gets followers talking about her work (since the whole game is celebrity as celebrity, not performer or lyricist).

I agree, a publicity stunt. But think of all the impressionable young people who will latch on to this thinking they want the “power” because they think they can “control” it.
