First lady Melania Trump said she wants to keep her son out of the spotlight because he deserves to have a normal childhood, despite the high-profile roles of his parents.
Children should be off limits. I protect him. I want to give him [as] normal [of a] life as possible. This is not normal life, but I like to protect him and give him the childhood that he deserves, she told Fox News Sean Hannity in an interview that aired Thursday.
She said any focus on her son makes her angry. Twelve-year-old Barron rarely appears in public with his parents....

She’s done a great job. For the most part he has been non-existent to the media predators.
Now the scum sucking Trump hating bastards will be on Barron's case all the time.
I had a normal childhood in the 50s and 60s. Im afraid Barron Trumps will be anything but normal. I suppose now days most kids dont have one. I went fishing with a cane pole. Rode a Western Flyer bike. Wore out at least half a dozen B.B. guns and a couple of dogs. Joined the military to avoid the draft and know what bucking hay means. I dont regret any of that but I feel sorry for Barron and a lot of kids today.
He IS off units, sweet First Lady. Just as all the presidential children have been. Unfortunately, the press follows the relative dictates of their superiors and Barron is fair game to them. I, for one, will continue to pray for your husband, who stands gallantly between them an us, for his family, you, and for his health and perseverance
” I went fishing with a cane pole. Rode a Western Flyer bike. Wore out at least half a dozen B.B. guns and a couple of dogs.”
I grew up in the city in the 30s and 40s-——I would not have considered your growing up normal-————times change.
Reckon so but Id bet you could go to the corner store alone back the without an armed escort. Times have truely changed.
I grew up in suburban New York in the ‘70s in an upper middle class neighborhood. We baby boomers ran it. Our grandparents taught us their philosophy. It was no way far off from what you illustrate.
Guys fished in the lakes and in the Long Island sound. They had guns. Underwater spear guns. Everyone had a bike and could ride it a far distance. There were no parents around. Moms were home looking out the kitchen window. They were educated but their primary job was raising us kids.
I feel sorry for the kids today. As you do. I raised mine to think that was what my parents, elders and the nuns did for me.
My initial reaction, as well.
The threats Barron has received are sickening and truly evil (think Peter Fonda’s Satanic threat). Same crap the Palin children had to put up with from the evil culture.
>>Normal meaning keeping him away from the predator media who'd target him daily if they had half a chance. And she's done a great job here.
We could roam all over the place, subways and busses included, not so today——you are right.
True. Our First Lady should not have to put up with the crap from outside the chore of raising her son. He should have the right to some courtesy from outside people. When the hate for his dad takes it to them, it is intolerable. This drip toward open conflict is picking up speed. Sooner or later it will reach a boiling point.
The anti-Trump crowd is already dripping vanity day in and day out.
Like you, I grew up in the country. Baled hay, raised cattle, raised hell. Got kicked out of college. enlisted, spent over 3 yes doing encryption in the Asa. I feel sorry for kids now, they’ll never have the chance to grow up with the same opportunity that I had. Lot of kids these days could use the experience.
“Pride goes before a fall.”
Hypothetical thoughts: if they harass Barron, then Obama’s children are fair game to mock and harass.
Just a “fairness and equality” thought for them to ponder.
I think a better point than then Obamas kids whatever. Is if anyone goes after someones kids they get their azz kicked period. IMHO
I agree and felt the same for Chelsea, the Obama kids etc.
