I like them, but they are a little high in sodium.

Saltines, sardines and beer. Is there a better way to watch football?

Pizza, pretzels, and beer maybe?

You can take one sardine...and mix with onions, garlic, and some spices...like pepper, salt..some cayenne..Grind it up into a slurry add a stick of butter..whip that up And you have Compounded butter....

Take that compounded butter...and spread it over a already cooked steak...then melt that butter over the steak...

IT has a good taste...and you cannot taste fish at all.

Sardines, anchovies, eulachon, smelt, candlefish, hooligan, ooligan. oolichan, I love them all.
In Juneau we used to gill net herring in the spring for pickling and salmon/halibut bait. Herring can also be jigged for using a little five hook rig with colored streamers.

I'm with you. The "Nuri" label is ok but there is better. Most are produced in Morocco but there are Portuguese sardines of better quality and higher price, and some from Tunisia. The bristling sardines from Norway are excellent. I like them skinless and boneless in olive oil, these have better flavor than the whole ones. Most packed in Canada are not sardines at all but small herring. You might check out sprats, a similar small fish from the Baltic sea. They are canned or bottled and are excellent.

.European sardine Sardina pilchardus

.

European sprat, Sprattus sprattus

I’d like to try them, but my stomach got hold of a gun and is waving it in my face and threatening me. Better not.

Hmmm ... sardines in oil, sardines in water, sardines in mustard, sardines in tomato sauce, sardines with hot chiles, smoked sardines ...

Makes me think of the Bubba Gump Sardine Company ...

Good Stuff, fo’ SHO’!

I first heard of it on Lennon’s I Am The Walrus song. Like so many words on that song I didn’t know what it was.

Costco carries Sanders brand, in olive oil, “gourmet”, because they are boneless and skinless. Leave it to humans to peel apples and potatos to remove part of the health benefits.
