I like the pic of him hanging from a rope better.
Woodrow Wilson is right if he means pure democracy, which is simply a tyranny of its own in which 50.1% of the people who can agree on anything may lord over the other 49.9%.
But Woodrow Wilson is entirely underrated as leftist tyrant by our own history in this country. He was reprehensible.
Beto!
Mugshot of Benito Mussolini, the socialist journalist co-founder of Fascism, after being arrested for his advocacy of a violent general strike in Switzerland where he was an illegal to avoid conscription in Italy. He was deported multiple times. With strong borders Fascism wouldn't have existed.
Thanks gaggs.
“...With strong borders Fascism wouldn’t have existed.” [gags, post 1]
What-ifs are always problematic. In this case, the above statement is unlikely to have come true.
Benito Mussolini was not just “a socialist.” He was Europe’s leading socialist before World War One.
After the war began in August 1914, he argued against it for two months, then reversed course in October (recall that Italy was then in a mutual-defense pact with Imperial Germany and Austria-Hungary but remained neutral until May 1915, when they joined the Allies). Socialists around the world advocated intervention, on both sides.
Mussolini was drafted in 1915 and served adequately, sustaining a leg wound. His encounter with “socialism of the trenches” - social barriers of wealth and privilege broken down by mass military service via government edict, greed and petty rivalries pushed aside by strategic imperatives and replaced by urgent, all-pervasive national purpose - altered his outlook; he changed from an internationalist to a nationalist without changing his advocacy of any specific policies that had before been essential parts of the grand socialist plan. Militarism in pursuit of a resurgent national greatness fit in nicely.
He formed the first fascist organization in March 1919 - a veterans group advocating socialist reforms & policies aimed at all the “oppressors” Leftists had been villainizing for years . The war was not over, merely paused by the November Armistice, with treaty negotiations still very much in doubt.

Not to mention the fact that the democrat party platform is almost identical to that of Hitler’s Nazis.
