Kavanaugh Confirmation Chaos - Liberals, Especially Women, Should Be Careful What They Wish For
Fox News ^ | 9/24/2018 | Liz Peek

Senator Hirono recently said, “I just want to say to the men of this country: Just shut up and step up. Do the right thing for a change.” This is where the #MeToo movement is taking us. More division, more extremism, more distrust. It’s a shame, because sexual assault is a serious topic. The #MeToo drive has been fueled by the revelations of many men making unwelcome advances or using their position of power to demand sexual favors. It has also been fueled by the anger of millions of women who have experienced harassment, workplace discrimination or abuse at the hands of men. But in the drive to eliminate such behavior, there is a risk that the country abandons the principles of fairness and equality which have guided our history and our progress. That will only stoke resentment of #MeToo, and hurt the very people they are attempting to help.

I have spoken to numerous young female office workers who are openly concerned that they are being excluded from informal gatherings because their associates are worried their conversations or behavior might be misconstrued. What executive is going to take the risk of inviting a junior female co-worker out to lunch or for an after-work drink, when all it takes is an accusation to lose his job?

Women used to complain that their exclusion from the Boys’ Clubs so powerfully in control of board rooms and C-Suites was preventing their advancement. #MeToo may, ironically, shut that door even more firmly.

Should all women be believed? That is the question many are grappling with as they watch the tumultuous struggle over Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court. This rush to judgement, fueled by gender bias, will surely not sit well with fair-minded Americans. It goes contrary to our country’s essential principle that someone’s gender, race or religion has no bearing on his or her guilt or innocence. These kinds of statements are doing women, and #MeToo, no favors.

By most accounts, Brett Kavanaugh has led an exemplary life, is a brilliant and highly qualified jurist, and has been a champion of women. Amy Chua, a professor at Yale Law School, wrote in the Wall Street Journal, ”Since joining the Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit in 2006, a quarter of his clerks have been members of a minority group. More than half, 25 out of 48, have been women. In 2014, all four were women—a first for any judge on the D.C. Circuit.”

It is striking that, in the midst of this bitter debate, not one of those women championed by Kavanaugh has suggested that the judge ever made inappropriate overtures towards her or used unsavory language.

I work in a basically male environment. I’d comfortably say 75% or more men compared to about 25% women due to the type of job (not many women go into system administration for IBM or Unix systems). That said, I’ve worked doing production control at a foundry, secretary at a ready-mix concrete plant, police dispatcher...jobs where there are always more men. Why? Because working with womenn SUCKS!

Often the men would be talking (comfortably) around me in the breakroom only for another women to walk in from another department and all conversation would stop. Why again? They were too afraid to offend them. Sad, aint’ it?

Maybe Democrats should try telling the truth for a change.

This may be a definitive moment in American politics. Democrats assume most women share the values of the feminist, anti fertility cult that forms the core of the activists in their party and the media. However most women have husbands, sons or are capable of rational thought. They are disgusted and repulsed by this vile effort to destroy the life, career and family of this fine Christian man. Suspect there will be a electoral response in November that will “surprise” many pompous pundits and stun Democrats.

It’s hard for me to believe that the liberals picked this particular fight with this particular nomination.

These stories are not holding up, and could backfire badly.

Will miss sunglasses be so compelling in her testimony to persuade fence sitting Republicans that Kavanaugh is some kind of monster?

One of the talking points is that this is a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court. But nobody mentioning that, ever mentioned the cabinet is already a sitting federal judge with a lifetime appointment to that court.

So, it’s the liberals are intellectually honest, they need to be calling for impeachment proceedings against have off from his current job not just ban him from the Supreme Court.

Will they take this that far?

Women tend to be emotional creatures. The #metoo movement is spearheaded by women.

The #metoo movement has become emotional, radical, and lost coherency.

Who would have ever guessed.

That ship has already sailed, regardless of Kavanaugh's fate. It's the Pence Rule all the way from here on out.

I posit, the damage is already done.

All the progress (the real) feminists made during the me-too movement to illicit empathy and support from their male peers has just been turned back into cynicism and suspicion.

It will get to the point where women will be passed over for consideration for employment because of the fear of being targeted for “offending” them with “manspreading” or looking at them wrong or too long or being sued for discrimination for not promoting them.

I work in construction, have been off and on for nearly thirty of my fifty years. There are a few, select females with whom I can speak like I do with the rest of the male field hands.

But if an “office” female is onsite or within earshot, unfortunately, us men (and those field women with whom I usually converse “normally”) just shut up.

The really sad part: some of these office women have made complaints that they are “mistreated” because we don’t act the same around them as we do the other field women.

Sorry, but you are different! Most of those select, few field women of whom I speak can curse more than I do, and have told some jokes raunchier than ME...the office ladies, not so much.
