Hi-Point C9 Takes a Licking from 12 Gauge
Am Shooting Journal ^ | 9/20/2018 | J Hines

And keeps on Ticking!
A $75 pawnshop find proved to be pretty hard to kill, despite some 12 gauge stippling.
In the above, the Youtuber 704 Tactical channel pits their working pre-owned Hi-Point C9 9mm semi-auto — which they picked up to work on slide cuts, coatings, and basic gunsmithing.
All internal parts replaced by their friendly neighborhood Hi-Point, C9 was then pitted against a Mossberg 500 stoked with No. 8 birdshot.
The idea for this stress test came from Edwin Sarkissian where he dropped a Hi-Point C9 from a helicopter and the C9 still ran.

On this first test the C9 got peppered, losing sights, grips, and trigger, most of the damage turns out to be cosmetic. Adding a new trigger and linkage from Hi-Point (which was covered by the company’s almost insane lifetime warranty!), he gives it another go... See the full footage of Hi-Point C9 here.

What the heck is the point of shooting a gun with another gun?

I agree.

If you want to test the gun try it with a variety of loads, see how accurate it is etc.

Don’t shoot it with another gun.

Funny thing is. The Hi-Point warranty will probably cover that.
Someone’s HP pistol got melted in a house fire, but he was able to get the serial number off of the plate.
Hi-Point replaced it.

I love Hipoint and I would love to work there only to replace that disgusting design of a gun.

The rear of the slide has this .. nipple. It’s meant to “simulate” a striker !

But the Hipoint is world famous - If you’ve been robbed and you have nothing, but you need to defend yourself then look no further than hipoint. And if you need to defend your home ? Again, a little responsible storage and you’re good to go. The gun will _always_ shoot.

Hipoints are disgustingly large because they forgo the expensive materials and instead have to make the guns way thicker to handle the ammo. The steel is garbage so they can’t get away with thin steels and compact packages. I think it’s time for Hipoint to step up to the plate and design a better piece. Because as a company they can’t be beat.

It’s like the American Kalishnikov.

Matt from Demolition Ranch shot at a Hi Point with a 9mm and it continued to function.
