Here are some facts from the gun industry in the U.S.
One would think that most of the consumer that drives our economy would be the outdoorsman, the group thats into hunting
Well, according to National Shooting Sports Foundation target shooting is what is driving the $16.9 billion dollar per year.
Another way to view this is that 20 million Americans enjoy target shooting every weekend.
When yo break this down on a per day basis, its $46 million dollars to the U.S. economy.
Research from NSSF also say that 329 thousand jobs are supported by the target shooting industry.
-Amongst the target shooting category (pistol, rifle, shotgun) pistol shooting is the most popular form of target shooting with 13.8 million shooting enthusiasts.
-Rifle target shooters comes in second, 12% less with 12.2 million plinkers. Read the rest of this target shooting report here.
interesting, i just pick up a used CO2 pistola and an air rifle last friday ..
The article also mentions the 10% federal excise tax on handgun ammunition, and 11% on long gun ammunition, that goes to state wildlife management programs to the tune of several hundred million dollars per year.
I can NOT stand that commercial where the little kid asks dad if he owns a gun. It ranks right up there with the HPV commercial with the kids asking mom and dad why didn’t they get their widdle kiddies the vaccine. Yo, you stupid kid, keep your pants on and you won’t get HPV. Yo, you stupid kid, it’s obvious your dad can’t trust you enough to teach you how to handle his gun.
I just got back into Trapshooting for the first time in about 37 years. Having an absolute ball with a great group of guys each week. Great stress reliever. Using my old Wingmaster pump gun that I bought back in 1977 for 139.95 when I was 15 for now. LOL
Nothing crazy just some informal 16 yard. Lotsa fun!
Gotta get more kids involved though. I see many young girls getting into the shooting sports more and more. They are excellent disciplined shooters/hunters. Boys don’t seem to be interested around here.
That’s the future.
The NRA doesn’t sell arms. Planned Parenthood does.
Good One!
What happened, how many casualties were there, was someone angry about Target’s transsexual bathrooms? [/s]
And you and your friends inhale vast quantities of ammo, as do rifle and pistol shooters. That means bans on mass purchase of ammo aren’t aimed at criminals, who actually use relatively miniscule quantities to perpetrate their mayhem, even on the south and west sides of Chicago. Instead, those bans are a deadly threat to the most innocuous of all shooters, the people who want only to defend themselves lawfully, shatter clay targets, and shoot holes in paper targets.
My 18 year old son was in a trap league last year with some friends. They had a blast. He just moved out of state for a job. I hope he can find a league where he lives.
Save the skeets!!
Thus sayeth ßuddaßudd “interesting, i just pick up a used CO2 pistola and an air rifle last friday ..”
Careful you don’t put your eye out.
I have protection ,, lol
Yes, he should stick with it after he gets settled. Its a hobby for a lifetime. I’m sad I missed so many years not doing it. Like anything, you simply have to make time for it.
