Are We A Republic or A Democracy?
IWB ^ | Daniel Carter

If you’ve tuned into the news lately, you have undoubtedly noticed quite the commotion over democracy. It is supposedly under attack by the Russians. It is also said to be under attack by Trump. And with the litany of daily articles and TV reports on these subjects, someone inevitably responds with “it’s a republic, not a democracy.”

But I can’t help but think these comments are based on theory instead of reality. Yes, it is true that our government was originally set up as a republic. This basically meant that the dominant governing force was the US Constitution, which took precedence over most of the whims of voters. If the public wanted more specificity in their government, they had to do it on the state and local levels.

Without President Trump being able to decrease government intervention in our lives, we're neither. We were on a nearly irreversible path to being a Fascist State.

The push back from the Deep State is beyond anything we could've imagined.

When the federal government becomes a democracy we are doomed.

Once upon a time a country called the United States began as a Republic.
The U.S. failed not unlike the Roman Empire where corruption, declined morality
and a lack of will to maintain such a country failed.

In the words of Ben Franklin, “A republic, if you can keep it.”

Liberals are a Were-right-your-wrong-ocracy.

When they’re in the majority they have a democratic mandate to do whatever their elites want (not what the people want since we’re a “democratic republic” and our “representatives” decide).

When they’re in the minority we have a constitutional republic that provides for a limited government which can only do what the minority elites allow rather than what the majority voted for.

We are a republic as long as we have the Electoral College.

Today, like 150 years ago, if you get rid of the electoral college we become a democracy.

The power and ferocity of the Deep State is evidence that we already are a fascist state. Trump will either crush it, or it will crush him and then come after us hard for our insolence.

A republic is a nation without hereditary govt. The USSR was a republic, in the 1700s there was the Dutch Republic. Venice, Florence, Milan were republics. The USA is a republic with a govt chosen through democratic meanscto represent tgecwishes of the People and to protect their inherent rights and provide a secure environment where those rights may be exercised without interference. The power to do this is divided ensuring the govt does not exceed its mandate. The we are a republic not a democracy claim is wrong.

Right now, we’re just a corrupt mess of Federal Agencies running the country for their own benefit.

Republic ==> Rex Publica ==> Rule of Law.

The US Government operates within a ‘Rule of Law’ framework, it is a Republican form of government.

The Founders were educated persons who lived in the Age of Enlightenment, who studied the history of governments going back to ancient Greece. They knew that pure ‘democracy’ as a form of government was very unreliable and not durable. Repeatedly throughout history, democracies died because of the human tendency to form mobs and for tyrants to control mobs, such tendencies leading to anarchy and then quickly to totalitarian rule.

Young inexperienced persons hear about ‘democracy’, learn its basics, and think it seems ‘natural’ and just. But they are inexperienced and devoid of knowledge of history. Because of this deficiency, American history was mandated to be taught in public school and the voting age at one time was set to be age 21 years.

Elections in America are democratic but the government is a republican form of government because a republican government is a more reliable, durable design. The legislative process and the election of a President are not democratic despite the appearance of democratic elements.

The Electoral College and the appointment of US Senators by State legislatures were two planks that provided a foundation for a continued Republican form of government that would guard against Mob Rule. The 17th Amendment removed one of the planks and this has caused enormous damage to the American way of life. Removal of the Electoral College as part of the progressive agenda is next in line to be overturned. This will allow Chicago and Los Angeles to determine who will be President of the US.

A republican form of government has nothing to do with today’s Republican Party.

It still is a republic because that’s the way the Constitution set it up and that has not changed yet.

People act like it’s a democracy and in many ways it does function that way, much to the detriment of us all.

This short little 10 min video explains it very well.

1. The United States of America IS a Constitutional Republic.

2. However, those in power, I.E. The leftist are doing everything they can, to change us. Not into a democracy, but a socialist country with them in charge. They will steal our money (even if they do that already). And control everything.

In short, they will be the elitists and we will be the peons. They will take everything and just pee on us.

“It still is a republic because that’s the way the Constitution set it up and that has not changed yet.”

The disaster at Appomattox severely crippled the United States constitution.

The original constitution provided for limited, enumerated powers for the federal government.

Today we have a synthetic constitution, plus a two million page Federal Register so Washington can control every aspect of our lives. Even the size of mud flaps on trucks using state-funded highways.

Trump will either crush it (the Deep State) or it will crush him

President Trump should do what and when he's best. Be decisive, and don't announce ahead of time what he's thinking. Those Deep State folks afraid they'll lose their clearances? The time is now. Except for the most rabid anti-Trumpers, people get it that security clearances of those no longer in their positions should have those clearances revoked. Those people under consideration should be notified by Monday AM when they wake up that they've lost their clearances. Otherwise, they'll be shopping for a rogue judge that'll do something unconstitutional in their favor.

The Democrats want us to be a Democracy which means the liberal East and West coast will then determine who governs the country, They cannot achieve that, even by royal decree, without a Constitutional Amendment which will never pass... unless the opposing states allow illegal immigrants to vote.

We left the Constitution behind when BOTH parties decided we did not need the protections of the natural born citizen requirement and allowed the Kenyanesian Usurpation.

It remains to be seen if it can be restored.

Our country is a republic. We use democratic principles to elect our representatives and the House and Senate are each small democracies within themselves. But overall, are system of government is a Republic.
