My cucumber patch is prolific this year. I’m fermenting “pickles”, enjoying cucumber soup, eating cucumber sandwiches, and cucumber laden salads...
Sorry I got off on a tangent... But what I wanted to say before the Cucumber ad lib was that Publix also has a great key lime pie. and key lime pie goes well with cucumber dishes for a nice summertime meal in the heat of it all
Mayo on an Italian sub? That’s just so wrong. Why don’t you put caramel sauce and Blu cheese dressing on there while you’re at it?
YOU ARE SOOOOO RIGHT
If you’re in NOLA...be sure to grab a muffuletta at the Central Grocery. To die for.
Several years ago, friends showed up for my birthday in Nola. We went to LaGasse’s NOLA Restaurant (the best!), Commander’s Palace, and one day bought sandwiches at Central Market and drove out to Oak Alley and all the other plantation homes on the Mississippi Delta and picknicked. How’s that for a birthday?
Firehouse steamed subs are great! Try the New Yorker or the Brisket
Try the Peachtree, grilled Black Forest ham, brie and peach hot pepper jelly served with dill horseradish sauce on the side. Messy but delicious! Oh my! Now I am hungry for one! I always get a half with a salad. It was my special lunch treat after visits to the oncologist and remains one of my favorite sandwiches.
....drooling.....
Subway’s cold cut combo without mayo or mustard but with Oil and Vinegar is very good....good amount of meat, cheese and lots of crunchy veggies and jalapenos if you want them...
OT too....but cucumber sandwiches with mayo and salt and pepper....fantastic....I planted English cukes this year and they are very good...
The Pub Sub is freshly made. The ingredients are excellent. The meats are Boars Head. Ill take that any day of the week
When in NYC I always go to Katz
IF you live whete theres a Publix go....it will change your view of customer service today
Publix like Chick Fil A prides itself on its customer service
Theyre ok
Boars Head is all they use
Which Wich is good. A Newks just opened near us. Havent tried it yet
“Its an approachable and relatable sandwich.”
Well, la-di-da...
All seriousness aside...sandwiches of all varieties rule. And thank goodness for a WIDE variety of drive-thru sandwich-making restaurants! Ever try eating spaghetti while driving down the road?
My nearby Publix makes the worst fried chicken in the area. It is greasy & not the least bit crispy. Church’s is far better. Overall, I was not impressed with their hot foods. Publix’s prices are about 20% higher than other stores.
