It is an accepted but lamented fact of life among police officers that in order to rise on the promotional ladder, one must endorse the political fashions currently in favor among the city’s politicians. And the higher one ascends on that ladder, the more convincingly one must do so. As a consequence, reflecting the governing principles of almost any city you can name, most police chiefs are liberals, or at least pretend to be with a passing level of feigned sincerity.
As a result of this, the upper levels of most police departments, most certainly those in large cities, become clogged with men and women who can recite leftist pieties as confidently as any MSNBC host, the better to curry favor with politicians whose sponsorship is essential to further promotion. All of these men and women believe themselves qualified to be the next police chief, but the one selected will have proved himself to be the most proficient panderer.
But this creates a problem within a police department, to wit, a division in the rank structure between those at or near the top who adopt the leftist nostrums of the politicians, and those at the bottom who must go out onto the streets each day and confront the very real problems engendered by those very same leftist nostrums.
There exists no more vivid example of this than the city of Chicago, where Hillary Clinton received 84 percent of the 2016 presidential vote, and where there hasn’t been a Republican mayor since 1931. Between Friday afternoon and Monday morning, 74 people were shot in the city,12 of them fatally. In one seven-hour span, from about midnight Saturday to about 7:00 a.m. Sunday, 41 people were shot, five of whom died.

In other words...to be successful, you have to lick boots and kiss ass. Lamentable.
On a per capita basis, Chicago is not the deadliest. It gains all the attention because it is so large and has huge numbers. I’m not sure what realistic remedies can be brought to tamp the numbers down.
Numbers will rise before Monday.

Reason - loss of family, loss of Christianity
This is owned by the black community. Its the black peoples fault. This is not racism. Its fact. Those murders are virtually all in three black communities. There are Asian, Indian, Middle Eastern and tons of other ethnic groups in Chicago who are lower middle class coming to America in the past few decades. But they don’t have murder. Murder IS NOT a poverty issue. That is pure crap. Murder is a drug crime issue. Just like in the days of Al Capone (same city) murder was about running whisky then, its about heroin now. The Chicago black neighborhoods are controlled by gangs. There are numerous gangs in Chicago that control very defined sections of the city and they are fighting for each block.
When a murder happens nobody will tell the police who did it. They know, the family of the victim knows. But they will not tell the police. Their own gang will handle it. So the crime does not get solved as we know it. But the shooter is often shot two weekends later. Or his little brother is. The reason for the black communities silence is three fold. One, its a high crime to tell the police, and they won’t catch the guy any how. Your gang is more likely to get revenge faster and make it hurt. And you have a family member or close friend in a gang maybe even the gang that shot your son. So telling gets you and everyone you know in hot water.
The reason this happens in Chicago so consistently is because the black neighborhoods are anchored by projects or low income housing. And they stay in the same place, and they stay all black. Because the murders never go outside the black community, the rest of the city knows just to avoid those areas. One year it moved to the loop and Michigan Avenues shopping district. The police doubled their force and created heavy handed tactics especially against black youths, and it disappeared in those areas.

As far back as I can remember every last lousy police chief in Chicago was as fanatically anti-gun as were the equally lousy mayors.
It’s not quite rocket science but it does take a small measure of courageous leadership. Chicago is alone among the big cities in the country in terms of its murder rate. Leftist bastions like New York and Los Angeles have at least been willing to apply at least a minimal level of rationality and have lowered their murder rates to 1950’s over last 10 or 20 years. It doesn’t have to be this way in Chicago either.
I agree with that. With the right effort, they could tamp it down some.
Reason? You make over $150,000.00 tax free selling drugs on a corner. One day someone else is on your corner so you KILL them.

Decades ago, people got drugs from their "connection". You knew somebody, who knew somebody, and he would supply you with what you wanted.
Then police started adopting the tactic of making dealers rat out their buyers. This made it necessary for buyers to become anonymous, so sellers had to secure a location where they could be located. Thus "turf wars" over locations which had accumulated lots of traffic.
They split the country and started the Civil War, founded the KKK, lynched blacks, and attacked Civil Rights leaders and the Republicans who supported them, all for the cause of keeping their "entitlements".
Many of us remember the union violence when Americans chose Japanese made cars over poorly made UAW cars in the 70s and 80s. Granted, they came around and their quality has improved greatly, but it took losing almost half of their home market to get to that point.
Not to mention millions of unborn babies dying for nothing more than the entitlement to have sex without accepting responsibility for the consequences.
The violence that goes on in Democrat run cities is only the latest manifestation of this.
You got to love the Democrat Party, they went from lynching and killing blacks since they lost the Civil War to Enslaving the Blacks in dependency on the entitlement plantation and have convinced them to Kill themselves off.
