Preening Peacock Newt Gingrich makes a fool of himself and joins the Screech Monkeys
vanity | July 17, 2018 | By Kevin Collins

Newt Gingrich is wrong again. He has been embarrassingly wrong before and he will be wrong again. He is a preening peacock that can’t resist a chance to array his “I’m the smartest guy in the room” feathers.

Immediately after President Donald Trump’s press conference with Vladimir Putin the leftist Screech Monkeys went into high dudgeon. The yelps from these people is understandable since their angst is well founded. They know their lives are being torn apart and they have no reason to believe they will ever be comfortably in charge of our lives again.

Some are so upset they have started calling for an armed military coup like the ones they love so much in South America. The word “insane” doesn’t do justice to their state of mind. That covers the CNN anti America anti-Trump pro Antifa crowd. We could expect this reaction from them.

What wasn’t expected was that Newt Gingrich would show that he too realizes his curtain is coming down and fewer and fewer people think he is the "smartest guy in the room."

Being the preening political peacock that he is, Gingrich cannot abide this. He felt compelled to shake his feathers and scream “Hey look at me! I’m smart. I can do things!” in a kind of Fredo Corleone way.

So,Gingrich belched out what he thought would be a great attention grabber. It was; but it was not the kind of attention he was looking for. To get ahead of the anti-Trump leftists he tweeted:

“President Trump must clarify his statements in Helsinki on our intelligence system and Putin. It is the most serious mistake of his presidency and must be corrected—-immediately.”

This was as vapid a statement as he could make. What was the point? Gingrich knows nothing more about what went on than anyone else. Nevertheless, it does show 1) he believes he is smarter than Trump and 2) he “only wants to help.” Both are false.

The “clarify” part was his way of saying he knows better in such a way so as to not anger the Trump supporters he needs to buy his books.

After all the guy who threw a hissy fit because he had to sit in the back of Bill Clinton’s plane KNOWS how to maneuver through the DC swamp doesn’t he?

So just how wrong was Gingrich?

At about 8:30 last night a review of a FreeRepublic post http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3671394/posts?q=1&;page=201 discussing Gingrich’s tweet showed just how wrong he was.

At that point there were 245 responses and accounting for multiple responses from a few Freepers there were about 200 different voices being heard.

In that number just ONE single Freeper supported Gingrich. About 50% of the responses mocked Gingrich, some brutally.

Given that FreeRepublic is the place where sophisticated grassroots conservatives meet to talk about the events of the day, there can be no clearer indication that President Donald Trump’s supporters are with him as much as ever.

To us this is just another media/Democrat Wile E. Coyote stunt that will lead to another anvil slamming down on their heads.

But of course, since Newt Gingrich is the smartest guy in the room he doesn’t see it that way. BEEP BEEP Newt you lose again.

No he didn’t...

He just meant Trump should clarify he does not mean he mistrusts ALL intelligence Agencies, just the lying liars who have headed them like Comey, Brennan, etc...

I mean wouldn’t you mistrust those guys?

But Trump could clarify he stands with the rank and file. That would be a win-win ‘clarification’ for Trump. He would get to emphasize what lying liars Comey and Brennan were (again) AND garner more rank-and-file support.

Anything to get some press. Must be terrible to be considered irrelevant these days.

Both Newt and Rove will do and say anything to get their name mentioned.

Good post (and is nice to be amongst such distinguished, sophisticated colleagues).

I accidentally came across Hugh Hewitt a couple of minutes ago. He was saying that every president has a worst day, and yesterday was President Trump’s worst day.

What a putz he is.

Agree about Newt.

I do think Trump’s public comment was... extremely ill advised.

The CIA works for him. The DIA works for him. The DOJ works for him. He needs to kick their asses and clean them up including firing Sessions immediately. This should be done as quietly possible but with extreme brutality.

He needs to return both the DOJ and his intelligence analysis back to apolitical professionalism.

Mr. President - if your daily brief is obvious crap you need a new DCI pronto.

It might be more accurate to say that every former Speaker has a worst day, and yesterday is a good candidate for former Speaker Gingrich's one. OTOH, if Gingrich were perfect, he would be Jesus, and there's only one Jesus.

I distrust them all.

Including the rank and file.

Why should I trust any of these people?

My guess is only a handful of those in the ‘rank and file’ are fair to President Trump.

I was happy to see him support Donald Trump in 2016, but I never, ever took the guy seriously again after this disgraceful episode:

I don’t even trust the rank and file anymore. They stood by like a bunch of passive sheep while all this was going on. Sorry, this has gone on so long it’s impossible to think some good guy will step forward. They are all worthless

"Newt Gingrich is way past his sell by date and he ought accept that."

Agree.

Mr. Gingrich had his day. At his prime he helped change the course of America.

Thank-you.

But Mr. Gingrich is stuck in the past. He's still fighting the Cold War.

Russia is an adversary with their own interests but an adversary we can negotiate with.

There is no better time than now to 'befriend' Russia .

The Chinese said, 'Only Nixon could go to China'.

As Reagan said, 'trust but verify'.

Trump is offering Russian and the world a true 'reset' button.

Exactly.. We don’t see any ‘rank and file’ speaking out against the injustices.

They could actually start an armed coup and Sessions still wouldn’t lift a finger.

1. I think the presser was great.

2. I finally unsubscribed from Newt’s unending emails.

Newt, if there was ever any question, is a Deep State a$$hole.

Remember, he brought us NAFTA.

And remember the Newt and Hillary on a sofa environmental ad.
