I remember back in the days of the Olympics there was a Soviet gymnast, Nelli Kim, who was Korean. I believe she eventually moved to the US.
Yes I think Missouri or some place in the midwest actually. :) She is highly influential in the world of gymnastics still behind the scenes and was largely responsible in changing the Olympic standard scoring system on skills.
Just looked it up. Minnesota* and she authored the new “Code of Points” scoring system.
