Schwan’s Company, a leading food manufacturer in the United States recently announced a $34 million investment into its pizza production facility in Florence. It is now hiring approximately 50 positions to meet an increase in demand.

“We’re extremely excited to be in a position to grow our team in Florence and meet the increasing demand for our foods”

Open, walk-in interviews will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday at the Schwan’s plant located at 7605 Empire Drive in Florence.

The interviews will be held over the next few weeks until positions are filled. Candidates can also apply and find more information at www.schwansjobs.com.

The company is hiring first- and second-shift line attendants and machine operators to make pizzas for brands such as Red Baron®and Freschetta® products.

“We’re extremely excited to be in a position to grow our team in Florence and meet the increasing demand for our foods,” said Larry Earle, Schwan’s senior director of manufacturing for the facility. “We look forward to meeting people who are interested in joining our team.”

The pizza facility in Florence is owned and operated by SFC Global Supply Chain, Inc., a Schwan’s subsidiary. The plant is a 380,000 square-foot facility that produces Freschetta®, Red Baron®, and Schwan’s® brands, as well as pizzas for schools and partner companies.

Last year, the company announced a $34 million investment to upgrade equipment at the facility. A major focus of the project was updating the facility’s pizza crust bakery. The effort is helping to decrease waste, increase production and add to the plant’s crust-making capabilities.

Based in Minnesota, Schwan’s Company is a privately held business that manufactures and markets quality foods through home-delivery, retail-grocery, and food-service channels.

Its many popular brands include Red Baron®, Tony’s® and Freschetta® pizza, Mrs. Smith’s® and Edwards® desserts, Pagoda® snacks, and Schwan’s® fine frozen foods.

Never understood the appeal. Ordered some way over priced and not very good stuffed mushrooms from them back in the 70s. Never ordered anything from them since.

Schwans (delivery of frozen food products) seems fairly popular in our area, but I have never bought anything from them.

We do like the Edwards frozen pies, though. Pretty good value, sometimes have coupons.
