US military plans migrant tent camps amid Trump crackdown (Cost $233 million every six months)

The US Navy is reportedly planning to build sprawling immigrant detention centres on military bases, amid a Trump crackdown at the US-Mexico border.

A draft memo obtained by Time magazine outlines plans to build "austere" tent camps to house 25,000 migrants.

The memo says the camps would be built on abandoned airfields in California, Alabama, and Arizona.

Another camp near San Francisco is being designed for as many as 47,000 people, the memo says.

A Pentagon spokesman said the military had not been asked by the Department for Homeland Security (DHS) to draw up the specific plans, but was engaging in "prudent planning... should the DHS ask for assistance in housing adult illegal immigrants".

The US military said on Thursday it had been asked by the government to get ready to house up to 20,000 immigrant children.

The Navy memo estimates the force would spend $233 million (£175m) to run a facility for 25,000 people for six-months....

This is great. People who think there is still catch and release are being told they will be held on a military base until their case comes up. LOL. It’s perfect!

“Huh? $1500 a person per month? How does it cost that much?”

Much of it goes to upkeep and secrecy at the Area 51 lab where the alien ship and its occupants from the 40’s are kept.

“You didn’t think they actually spent ten thousand dollars for a hammer and thirty thousand for a toilet seat, did you?”

We have homeless in Seattle, San Francisco, Hawaii, every fricking place. But illegals get tents, food, water, toilets, showers, and probably entertainment like movies, TV, internet.

Congress is derelict.

I know people here are besides themselves over the government not seeming to be able to control the invaders. Unfortunately the Army cannot be used without a Posse Comitatus abeyance declaration and several other Presidential declareration s. The leftist judges would quickly tie this up interminably

Build the wall, install water fountains along its entire length, put up arrows pointing towards the nearest Mexican road heading south

That’s right! Use the buildings of those companies repatriated back to this country.

Send the bill to Pelosi, Schumer, Waters, Cummings, et al.

Then there’s the GOPe, e.g., Ryan, Collins, McLame, Turtleface, et al.

Actually, it sounds very reasonable to me. Food, clothing housing and supervision for $1500/month.

This is much less that jails or prisons cost, and it is going to need some of the attributes of these facilities. Plus we are going to need to educate the children.

The cost works out to a few cents per month for each citizen. What part of that is unreasonable?

We have built a wealthy society which attracts all sorts of people. If we let them all in, they will overwhelm us, so we must enforce rules on who can come in, but this is going have some monetary cost.

Better be prepared for 25,000 crying screaming distressed sign-carrying Democrat or Soros-funded protestors to show up as well - porta-potties, food stations, first-aid, etc. As well as the accompanying MSM contingents to broadcast the “horror” of it all 24/7. And the security personnel. And the lawyers. And the ACLU. And the anarchists. But I repeat myself.

Instant cities for as many as 25,000 Gimmedats? Insanity.

It’s a freaking invasion. Treat it as such.

I hope the USN spends a few dollars more and tattoos “illegal” on their forehead.

That way, they’ll be easy to spot when they return.

Make a propaganda movie, Soylent Brown...

The reality of what happens to illegals crossing the border.

And put it on a Taco Bell menu.

Trump can’t win - the Left keeps up the attacks and when he does something to try to control the situation w/o letting them all loose, our side finds ways to bitch.

Stupid comment. This is great idea and way overdue. 233 million vs a lifetime of welfare. Do you even know basic math?

You still have to hold them. What’s so hard to understand? When the cross the border they get caught and have to be processed because if they are repeat offenders it s FELONY! This would end catch and realease.
