US military plans migrant tent camps amid Trump crackdown (Cost $233 million every six months)

The US Navy is reportedly planning to build sprawling immigrant detention centres on military bases, amid a Trump crackdown at the US-Mexico border.

A draft memo obtained by Time magazine outlines plans to build "austere" tent camps to house 25,000 migrants.

The memo says the camps would be built on abandoned airfields in California, Alabama, and Arizona.

Another camp near San Francisco is being designed for as many as 47,000 people, the memo says.

A Pentagon spokesman said the military had not been asked by the Department for Homeland Security (DHS) to draw up the specific plans, but was engaging in "prudent planning... should the DHS ask for assistance in housing adult illegal immigrants".

The US military said on Thursday it had been asked by the government to get ready to house up to 20,000 immigrant children.

The Navy memo estimates the force would spend $233 million (£175m) to run a facility for 25,000 people for six-months....

...Another camp near San Francisco...

Near San Francisco? It should be in San Francisco. Put it square in the Presidio so that liberals can feed the migrants during their stroll thru the park.

May be a good time to invest in companies who manufacture tent stakes....

That’s right. Build the wall, then put some little lean-tos on the south side of it, instant detention center. And they’re detained in their own country.

Central Americans? Let Mexico give them asylum.

Time to start prepping Trump voters for the counter strike.

This will be direct action by the USMC and select DHS strike forces.

STATE OF EMERGENCY COUNTER COUP ALL BETS OFF!!!!

This will not be business as usual, it will be a decapitation of Congress, the “Judiciary”, the FEDERAL APPARATCHIK, and the “Press”, and that’s just for starters.

Communists out, long live the American Revolution.

Add to that brilliant idea, publicly ask for each congressional representative to lay off one office person each, to fund the program.

ICE didn’t release a breakdown of criminal offenses of the new 30,000 on Wednesday, but among the 36,000 released in 2013 were 193 homicide convictions, 426 sexual assault convictions, 303 kidnapping convictions and 16,070 convictions for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

They are releasing murderers, kidnappers, sex criminals, and drunk drivers into the American populace because their home countries won't take them back?

And they released even more last year?

How the hell is all hell not breaking loose?

This is insane, the apparatchiks and the politicians and judges responsible for this need to go to jail.

START IMMIGRATION REFORM BY CATCHING THESE MF’S AND SENDING THEM BACK TO WHERE THEY CAME FROM.

Their countries don’t want them back, TOO DAMN BAD.

These are just contingency plans, in the case of massive overflow (e.g. AMLO gets elected President of Mexico on July 1st, and sends hundreds of thousands across in waves).

At current rates of just a few thousand detainees - maybe ten or twenty thousand in a bad case scenario, existing housing on military bases can be used, as they have before,

There are old barracks, and Reserve facilities that can be used. They were housing a lot on Lackland AFB in Texas under Obama - those facilities can be started up again. It is logistically close to the border, and military aircraft could possibly be used to repatriate them.

The big wild card is accommodating family units - mixed male, female and child. That could make it more challenging; requiring either private rooms, or big open facilities.

"... publicly ask for each congressional representative to lay off one office person each, to fund the program.

Or better yet, make them tithe (a mere 10%) of their bribes graft to pay for it.

San Clemente Island. 56 square miles, existing landing strip, owned by the Navy, 40 miles off shore, moderate climate.

Main use: Gunnery range for US Navy ships.

Issue: Bombarding days will be printed in English and Spanish and air raid sirens will need to be installed. US Government will supply sand bags and shovels for residents to build air raid shelters.

Why don't we tax the remittances sent to Mexico? At least enough to cover the cost of their illegal aliens and incarcerated criminals. It's been talked about. Maybe someone needs to remind President Trump about what a great idea it is.

Essentially it's saying, OK Mexico, you encourage your citizens to sponge off the USA, we will just deduct that cost to us from remittances. Net gain, amigo, zero dollars. At the current exchange rate that works out to zero pesos.

I’m glad it’s the Navy and not the Air Force building the camps. If the Air Force built them, the detainees would never want to leave.

"Maybe it would be cheaper to put them on cruise ships headed south."

That is actually a feasible plan, One leased cruise ship could do a weekly milk run from Corpus Christi to Southern Mexico (Cancun), Guatemala, and Honduras; carrying 2,000 deportees, for a few hundred dollars a piece. El Salvadoreans would have to bused from Hond, or flown.

During Operation Wetback under President Eisenhower, the military leased commercial ships and did that.

$38.8m a month. Which is real peanuts at the federal government scale.
