Why do you say that?

No, not true. It will increase prices. That can't be denied. Increased tariffs on products made here will reduce demand, costing jobs and closing factories and/or reducing shifts - that's a given. Law of economics always works. However, something needed to be done. We have allowed everyone to take advantage of us.

So in the short run, there will be pain, but since our economy is so large, most companies need/want access to our market, so the other countries will probably cry uncle first.

Germany has a 27.5% tariffs on our cars and we have a 2.5% tariffs on Germany's cars mainly BMWs and Mercedes. On the other hand, I can't see a huge demand for our cars/trucks considering how narrow some of their roads are in the many medieval towns. Trump has not raised tariffs yet on European cars, we will see if he does.
