I’m a boomer. I’ve enjoyed my life because of the Greatest Generation’s sacrifices. If you are younger than I, my wish for you is to have a great life as great as the one I’ve known

The invention of the flush toilet was a pivotal moment in history.

Back in the 20th century there was a questionnaire that would determine how negative of a person you were. The more affirmative answers, the more negative.

One of the questions was, “do you watch the news every day?”

Heck, people watch, read, and comment/argue every hour now. It’s why BLM was complaining about the epidemic of unarmed black men being shot by cops, even though, in reality, the number was going down, most of them were in the process of committing a crime, and there were only 20 or so cases a year.

But when all twenty are youtube videos you’ve watched over and over, as a black man you can be afraid to sit behind the wheel of a car.

And school shootings? There are over 100,000 public schools in this country. They are ridiculously rare.

Etc.

I’ve found that if I avoid those stories, and just stop taking everything so seriously, when it’s not happening in my state, I’m good. :)

Compare the life of the average person living today in the USA/Europe or China to someone living in the same place 300 years ago....or 1000 years ago, for that matter.

Do we live better lives than our ancestors? Absolutely, unequivocally yes.

As a Christian, I believe that the world is rapidly approaching what’s called the Biblical “Last Days”....which will take us to the great TRIBULATION...and no I am not a Pre-Tribber.

I watch the world and I can’t help but think of the Master’s warning in Matthew 24.

Harvard University psychology professor Steven Pinker believes that you are too pessimistic. His recent book, Enlightenment Now: The Case for Reason, Science, Humanism and Progress, makes a sustained argument that the world is, in fact, getting better.

What planet does he live on?

Oh, wait a minute. I see the problem. He's a professor who works at Harvard.

That's like being detached from reality squared.

NOT -— Psychology has a basic flaw in its foundation, which would suggest that man is basically good. Yet, nothing could be further from the truth. Man is born with a sin nature, which is like a progressive disease when there is not intervention. Man (like a rotting piece of meat) is in a state of decay, more wicked, and the truth confirms this reality. At the end of the day, man will once again find that he has repeated the cycle of progressive to the extent that it was in the days of Noah, when wickedness had overrun the planet, and all but 8 found themselves destroyed in the flood. The next time will be by fire, “says the Lord.”

The world is getting better. But there’s a vested interest in making people think things are terrible. Bad news sells, intervention sells, fear sells. Nobody wants to tell people the world is getting better, and the people don’t want to listen even if somebody says it.

Read John 3:16 and believe what you read. It is really very simple and not complex!

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
