They need to devise a plan where they can quickly send them back. Keep the children with parents, hold them until hearing, send them home.

Seriously, ask your friend if he has volunteered for the rescue a refugee family program. Liberals are signing up to adopt a family and either allowing the family to move in with them or accept full financial responsibility. That way they won’t be separated.
I’ve lost several people to the debilitating, chronic, no-cure, mental disease known as liberalism who were “friends” and family. They pretty much totally shun me now for my “out-dated” conservative views. There is no reasoning with them on any issue contrary to what’s already inside their insane, rotted out brain. Inside, they’re raging, violent tyrants only restrained by law which is even broken at times.

There is no “immigration fight”. Trump is merely enforcing laws that previous presidents, and congress(es) passed.
The President’s job is to enforce laws passed by Congress.

Mass media is the propaganda wing of communism for the world. They will print and say anything to make it happen. We need a law that says if any news organization prints a politically false statement the owner gets the death penalty. Opinion stated as opinion will be exempt. How ever items reported or inferred to be the truth are w hat this law is for.
In every conversation about it with liberals I lead with if I believed the picture of that little kid in a cage was real I’d be pissed too. Now the picture has an explanation which is a nice addition to the conversation. Then I channel my inner numbers USA and ask how many more third world citizens live in fear and poverty and how do you think we can help them all. That leads to help them there. If we haven’t reached reality by now they are no longer my friends. I will not let my friends compare me to Hitler and they should already know I care about my fellow man.

I would dispute that he is very smart. He may be smart in some areas, such as his profession. But when it comes to politics, and the realities we face, he appears to be a brain-dead leftist who regurgitates what he hears from the left-wing media.
I'm a pretty smart guy, but there was a time when I voted 'rat and frankly, didn't know jack $hit. I believed all the leftist mantras - "republicans only care about the wealthy", "republicans are racist", "republicans want old people to eat dog food", etc. I voted for Clinton in '92, but by '94, I was a full-fledged republican. The difference is that I educated myself in those two years. If your friend does not do likewise, he will continue to be clueless.
The current kerfuffle on the handling of illegal immigrants, is, I believe, a ‘distraction operation’ to the FBI’s Inspector General (IG) report on the ILLEGAL politicization of the DoJ and others during the Obama (and prior) Administrations. The LEFT knows that, lacking another, more LEFTist ‘breaking news’ like this, more coverage of the FBI scandal would be quite damaging to their voting chances in 4 months.

I have been having the same discussion with my son (college ruined him) Here is the text I just sent him. “I have some questions for you. Do we have laws that forbid people from entering our country illegally? When said people come into our country, breaking those laws, should they be arrested? When these parents are arrested, do they usually go to jail? Should the children go to jail with their parents? Should we ignore our laws and just let these people go on their merry way into our country? If we ignore one law, then does that set up precedents to ignore others? If someone broke into your house because he wanted to live in it, would you want him to go to jail or say “Nah”, just because he has kids and he would be separated from them? Or would you just say “sure come live with me”? If you decide to let him go to jail, is it the cops fault? If so, how?” He wants to blame this all on Trump, but I said Trump is the Executive branch and their job is to enforce the laws that Congress makes. He is placing his anger on the wrong people. First his anger should be with the parents who drag their kids with them in an attempt to break our laws. Second, should be with Congress who make the laws in the first place. I told him Trump has been pleading with Congress to change these laws. (hope this makes sense)

1. Why are they separated from the adults?
2. Are the ‘parents’ traffickers? How are they vetted?
3. How many children come without adults? 10,000 w/o adults, 2,000 with adults per month.
4. Where do we put these children? Foster care? Do they get to stay in America?
5. If Democrats want this soooooo badly, they could back the current immigration bills without argument.
