BIG WELLS, Texas (KABB/WOAI) - Authorities said five undocumented immigrants are dead following a chase involving Border Patrol agents Sunday afternoon.
Dimmit County Sheriff Marion Boyd said the crash happened off Highway 85 in Big Wells at about noon. Boyd said agents were chasing the SUV when it lost control and overturned. The vehicle was traveling at more than 100 miles per hour when it crashed.

Politicians might be on this all day making some political hay as they say.
Tampa’s female mayor at the time forbade any police chases after a fatal accident. Kids would steal a car, ram a patrol cruiser and run away. So many police cars were damaged and it became such an embarrassment that the mayor relented and they resumed chases. After one successful collar a blond girl stamped her foot in the capture video and wailed, “You’re not playing by the rules!”
The takeaway was, if you want fewer chases, have more chases.
Can you imagine seeing 12 criminals flying out of windows and doors from an SUV rolling so fast?

I am unmoved by this story. This was the ‘reward’ for that kind of risk-taking.
Thrown from the vehicle! Guess that’s one way to separate them.
And the only problem with it is, they had traffic messed up for a while. Should have just put the remains back in the SUV, put it on a flatbed, swept up the road and re-opened it.
They jumped out of the car while it was going 100.
SUV feeling guilty? If that SUV didn't decide to run away, maybe none of those people would have been killed.
Kind of like what happens when after a rain in the forest, you turn over a rock and look underneath.
Obama/Holder would have seized on this event as an excuse to cancel all high speed Border Patrol pursuits, on the grounds that it endangers the immigrants, the officers, and innocent bystanders.
I am exceedingly saddened.
9 of the people attacking America survived. We’ve got to get our kill percentage much, much higher than that.
Certainly all of these riders would have been safe and comfortable in a Federally-operated dormitory with security for those seeking to come or go.
They chose poorly.
